New safety tool introduced for WhatsApp; Alerts users for sharing screen with an unknown contact

Cybercriminals recently started scamming people over WhatsApp by impersonating bank officials or customer support agents. In such cases, users were asked by the threat actors to share their screen to resolve an issue or verify an account, only to steal information displayed on the screen. Such screen-sharing scams fooled many users online.
To protect users against such fraud, a new safety tool has been introduced on WhatsApp. The app will now alert users when they attempt to share their screen during a video call with an unknown contact. The warning message advises users to share screen only with trusted people, as they will be able to see anything you display on your screen, including sensitive details like your banking info.
This move by the company will make users pause and rethink their decision to share screen with strangers, which may decrease the cases of screen-sharing scams. Due to this new alert, users will now be more cautious during video interactions with strangers, while with this new tool, WhatsApp gives users more context to spot and avoid scams.
