Sony LYT-901 Image Sensor – Officially Released

As mentioned, the LYT-901 image sensor (previously referred to as ‘Sony IMX09E’) is the very first 200MP sensor from the brand, and it has a super large size of 1/1.12″. For a higher resolution detail capture, it also offers 0.7μm pixel size, and it supports HF-HDR (Hybrid Frame-HDR) for smarter highlight and shadow balance. The dynamic range is mentioned as 100dB+ with 17 stops, and the DCG-HDR and Fine 12-bit ADC ensures better tonal depth as well as cleaner RAW output.

Speaking more, in terms of its zooming capabilities, 4x lossless near optical zoom (4x sensor-in-zoom – ISZ) is supported, and the latest LYT-901 image sensor is the only sensor now available to offer 4x hardware zoom + 4K videos at 30fps combination. Furthermore, the sensor also supports 120fps video capture at 4K resolution using the 4x binning mode. Quad-Quad Bayer, the AI-based built-in Rebayer circuit is also used, and it is capable of performing heavy in-sensor processing.

4K HDR video support of up to 60fps, large pixel-binned modes like 50MP (2×2) and 12.5MP (4×4) for a cleaner low-light image output, integer pixel-bin zoom levels of 200MP > 50MP > 12.5, and enhanced concert-level zoomed capture support are its other notable specs and features.
