XChat standalone messaging app launching soon; Elon Musk reveals details

A few months back, it was revealed that Elon Musk will soon be expanding the capabilities of the social media platform X by introducing XChat, a new encrypted messaging app that was expected to directly compete with WhatsApp.
In the recent Joe Rogan podcast, Elon Musk has revealed some major details about the upcoming XChat app.
Musk revealed that the XChat standalone app will be launching soon. The app uses a peer-to-peer-based encryption system, similar to Bitcoin, and the company is said to have rebuilt the entire messaging stack. He also mentioned that apps like WhatsApp have advertising hooks and know what you are texting to decide which ads to show you, which is a massive security vulnerability.
On the contrary, XChat is said to have no hooks for advertising, zero ads, zero data proofing, zero compromise, and your chats are said to stay private. There will be no third-party dependency, while the chats are said to be strictly confidential, and even X cannot access them. The goal behind introducing XChat is to replace what used to be the Twitter DM stack with a fully encrypted system where you can text, send files, and do audio/video calls. The standalone app is said to be released in a few months and will also be integrated with the X system.
