While booking train tickets or looking for a Tatkal ticket, many of us have faced some issues with the IRCTC website. Receiving this feedback from the users, the Ministry of Railways will now release the beta version of its revamped IRCTC website.
Just a few days back, IRCTC & CRIS officials met Students of MNIT, Jaipur and allowed them to experience the beta version of the new IRCTC website, and also asked for more feedback before officially releasing the beta version.
Revamped IRCTC website beta version rollout
It was said that the IRCTC website will be revamped by 15th July, and the Ministry of Railways is expected to roll out the beta version on that day itself.
According to the press release, the revamped IRCTC website is being integrated with the Passenger Reservation engine of Indian Railways, and since the Passenger Reservation is also being revamped in parallel, the fully functional new IRCTC portal will be available in a few months.
The beta version includes four improvements in the IRCTC website:
- No unnecessary captchas, pop-ups, flashing graphics and distracting elements.
- Seat availability visible across all classes
- Reduction in the number of steps to book
- Easier repeat booking with saved passenger details
As mentioned above, the Passenger Reservation Engine that powers various train booking apps is also being revamped, and it will be launched very soon. Other than this, steps have been taken to reduce bots in Tatkal booking, though efforts still need to be made.
Reportedly, there could be a fare calendar in the new website to compare fares across dates, multilingual support and integrated services for Divyanjan, students & patients. The new upgrades could also be seen in the RailOne app, which has now crossed 4 crore downloads.
