Qualcomm Introduces Quick Charge 5+ for More Cooler and Consistent Charging Speeds of up to 140W

Following the 2020-released Quick Charge 5 tech, Qualcomm has now officially introduced an enhanced Quick Charge 5+ standard. Notably, it promises a cooler and consistent charging experience, and is capable of delivering up to 140W charging speeds.

Here’s more about it.

Qualcomm’s Latest Quick Charge 5+ Introduced

As mentioned, the Quick Charge 5+ standard has been introduced as an enhanced version of the brand’s previous Quick Charge 5 and in order to deliver a cooler and consistent charging experience, it makes use of lower voltage at higher currents. Up to 140W charging (20V, 7A), 0% to 50% in five minutes, and dynamic power flow control are the biggest changes in Qualcomm’s latest Quick Charge 5+. Also to note, the Quick Charge 5+ relies on a smarter and a more efficient path in comparison to other charging solutions that are limited to 5A and require higher voltage to deliver faster charging speeds. Thus, with its new charging standard, Qualcomm has easily addressed issues of heating and its impact on battery health as well as battery longevity.

Speaking more, the Quick Charge 5+ has the USB PD-PPS as the underlying charging protocol and it is backward compatible to previous versions till the Quick Charge 2, thus a Quick Charge 5+ certified charging adapter will be able to power a wide range of devices. About its availability details, at the upcoming Snapdragon Summit that has been scheduled to take place from the 23rd of September 2025 to the 25th of the same month, the first devices supporting the Quick Charge 5+ tech of Qualcomm will be announced. Later this year in 2025, Quick Charge 5+ certified chargers and accessories will also be hitting the market.
