Vivo confirms that it will also launch a smartphone with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC

Vivo doesn’t seem to be left out and has now officially confirmed that it will also launch a smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC. While the Vivo X300 Series — comprising the X300 and X300 Pro — is already confirmed to launch in China on October 13 with the Dimensity 9500 SoC, this Snapdragon model is likely to be the X300 Ultra.

The reasoning is simple: Vivo launched the X200 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Elite earlier this year in China, so it may continue the same pattern by unveiling the X300 Ultra next year with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

Although official details of the X300 Ultra remain under wraps, early rumours suggest it could be the world’s first smartphone to feature two 200MP rear cameras — one serving as the main sensor and the other as a periscope telephoto camera with an 85mm focal length. The periscope unit is said to use a 1/1.4-inch sensor, reportedly the recently announced Samsung ISOCELL HPB customised for Vivo, which is also expected to be included in the X300 Pro.

Like its siblings, the X300 Ultra is expected to integrate Vivo’s self-developed video chip, its in-house imaging chip, and Zeiss T* coating for enhanced clarity. On the front, it will reportedly house a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus and a 92-degree field of view, matching the X300 and X300 Pro.
