Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco had earlier dropped a teaser on the social media platform X with the tagline, “People with high IQ will wait for what’s coming neXt!” In this, the letter “X” was written in bold, which pointed out that Poco may soon launch the Poco X8 Pro Series in India. Furthermore, a new microsite has been listed on Flipkart, which also hints that the series is coming soon to India.
There is more to it.
Poco X8 Pro Series – Flipkart Microsite
The main banner shows the tagline, “Stay tuned for neXt,” where the letter “X” is highlighted in yellow colour. Now, nowhere on the microsite nor in the teaser released on X does it mention that it is for the upcoming Poco X8 Pro Series, but the highlighting of the letter X rather hints that it could be the Poco X8 Pro Series.
Further, upon opening the microsite, in the first banner, you will see a smartphone figure with a rear design showcasing a dual camera setup placed inside a pill-shaped camera module, which is not raised. However, the dual camera cutout can be seen raised from the rear body, with each cutout being surrounded by circular rings. A circular LED flash sits next to the camera module, while the POCO branding is visible at the bottom left. Now, if we compare this design, it matches the Redmi Turbo 5 smartphone, which was launched back in January, along with the Redmi Turbo 5 Max.
The image now rather confirms that the microsite is indeed for the Poco X8 Pro Series, which will bring the Poco X8 Pro and Poco X8 Pro Max smartphones. The microsite currently only reveals the design of the Poco X8 Pro, but it may soon reveal the Poco X8 Pro Max as well. Apart from confirming the design, it also reveals that the launch will happen in March itself, as the microsite’s URL reads “Poco Coming Soon March 26”.
In terms of specs, the Poco X8 Pro will come with the Dimensity 8500 Ultra SoC, a 6.59″ 1.5K AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, a 50MP main OIS camera, and a 6500mAh battery paired with 100W HyperCharge technology, as per its retail box unit image, which was leaked by tipster Paras Guglani. In China, the Redmi Turbo 5 came with the Dimensity 8500 SoC; even though the Poco X8 Pro is going to be its rebrand, the Ultra badge suggests that it may come with software-level optimisation. Other than this, it was spotted on the Geekbench Database, Indian BIS, SDPPI, IMDA, and EEC certifications.
Moving on to the Poco X8 Pro Max, it hasn’t been spotted yet on Geekbench, but earlier, a tipster named Abhishek Yadav shared the image of an alleged AnTuTu benchmark listing via a post on X, which revealed that the smartphone will be powered by the Dimensity 9500s SoC, just like its sibling, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. However, the AnTuTu benchmark score for this one was slightly higher compared to the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. But upon checking further, the Chinese variant was tested on AnTuTu version V11.0.3-OB3, while the other listing was based on AnTuTu version V11.0. 8. Just like the X8 Pro, this model had also surfaced on the Indian BIS and SDPPI.
