Poco India teases the launch of a new smartphone, could be from the Poco X8 Pro series

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco is likely coming with a new smartphone for the Indian market, as it has released the first teaser of what appears to be the Poco X8 Pro series.

Here is more to it.

A new Poco smartphone has been teased for India.

As per the post on X by Poco India’s official account, it confirms that there is a new smartphone launching soon in India. The post reads, “Smart minds will wait for the smarter phone. They don’t rush. So shouldn’t you. #POCO”, and there is also an image in the post. The image states, “People with high IQ will wait for what’s coming neXt!” Looking at this, the word “X” is capitalised in the sentence, which could hint that it is pointing towards the upcoming Poco X8 Pro series smartphone.

Poco X8 Pro Series India

Previously, the Poco X8 Pro (2602BPC18I) and Poco X8 Pro Max (2602BPC18I) were both found listed on the Indian BIS certification, which somewhat confirmed their India launch as well. Speaking more about this smartphone, the specs for the Poco X8 Pro are expected to be the same as those of the Redmi Turbo 5, which was launched in China recently, while the X8 Pro Max is expected to be similar to the Redmi Turbo 5 Max.

Out of the two, the Poco X8 Pro Global Variant’s Geekbench listing revealed that it will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 SoC, paired with Android 16 OS, and 12GB RAM as one of the memory options. Meanwhile, the Poco X8 Pro Max hasn’t been listed on Geekbench yet, but since it is going to be a rebrand of the Redmi Turbo 5 Max (China), it will likely be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s SoC.

If I talk about the markets in which both smartphones will be launched, then, as per the EEC (Europe)IMDA(Singapore) and SDPPI(Indonesia) certifications, the Poco X8 Pro will launch in these markets as well. So far, the X8 Pro Max’s model number has only appeared on the Indian BIS certification, though it will likely start to appear on other certifications soon as well.
