Motorola Edge 70 to Launch in India on December 15 with 3 Major OS Upgrades and 4 Years of Security Updates

Motorola had earlier teased the launch of the Motorola Edge 70 for the Indian market, and it has now confirmed that the phone will debut on December 15 at 12 PM IST. Along with this, the Flipkart microsite also reveals its specifications, features, and other key details.

According to the Flipkart microsite, it features a 5.99mm ultra-thin design and weighs 159g. It uses an aircraft-grade aluminium frame and a textured back panel, and will be available in three Pantone-curated colours: Lily Pad, Gadget Grey, and Bronze Green. The microsite confirms IP68 and IP69 ratings, military-grade durability, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, and Smart Water Touch support.

The phone includes a dual rear camera setup comprising a Pantone-validated 50MP main sensor and a 50MP ultrawide lens with Macro Vision. On the front, it houses a 50MP Quad Pixel selfie camera. Moto AI camera features such as AI Action Shot, AI Adaptive Stabilisation, AI Group Shot, and AI Signature Style are also highlighted, along with support for 4K 60fps video recording from all lenses.

The microsite also highlights a Vapour Cooling Chamber for thermal management and the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, stated to make this India’s first ultra-thin phone powered by this processor. On the front, the device features a 6.7-inch Extreme AMOLED 1.5K display with a peak brightness of 4500 nits and Dolby Atmos support.

Battery details reveal a 5000mAh (slightly bigger battery than the Global variant, which came with a 4,800 mAh battery) silicon-carbon unit rated for up to 31 hours of continuous video playback, paired with 68W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. Multi-platform AI support is also showcased, including Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, and Moto AI. Additional AI functions listed include AI Image Studio, AI Playlist Studio, and Moto AI Assist, which offers contextual suggestions, memory capture, summarisation, and live transcription.

Google Photos AI features, including Circle to Search, Magic Eraser, and Magic Editor, are supported as well. Smart Connect 3.0 enables phone mirroring on a PC, app continuity across devices, and content casting to a TV. Software details confirm Hello UI based on Android 16, along with 3 years of OS upgrades and 4 years of security updates.
