Apple iPhone 17e Announced with A19 Chip, 6.1″ Super Retina XDR OLED Display and Ceramic Shield 2

iPhone 17e, the successor to the iPhone 16e, has now been launched in India, and its availability on Flipkart and Amazon has also been confirmed.
Here is more to it.
Apple iPhone 17e – Specs and Features
It features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a peak brightness of 1200 nits, the same as the iPhone 16e. However, Apple has upgraded the screen protection to Ceramic Shield 2, which is claimed to offer three times better scratch resistance compared to the Ceramic Shield used on the iPhone 16e. The device continues to use an aluminium frame and comes with IP68-rated dust and water resistance.
The main difference lies under the hood. The iPhone 17e is powered by Apple’s A19 chip, which is also found in the standard iPhone 17. It retains the Neural Accelerators for improved AI performance but has one fewer GPU core compared to the 5-core GPU in the regular iPhone 17.
Apple has also introduced its new C1X cellular modem in the iPhone 17e. The company claims it is twice as fast as the C1 modem used in the iPhone 16e. It is also said to consume 30 percent less power than the Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 5G modem found in the iPhone 16 Pro, which helps improve battery efficiency. However, despite these improvements, it does not support mmWave 5G and is limited to sub-6GHz connectivity.
The device packs a 4005mAh battery, which Apple says can deliver all-day usage. This is attributed to the efficiency of Apple Silicon, the new C1X modem, and iOS 26’s advanced power management. It also supports MagSafe and Qi2 fast wireless charging at up to 15W, marking another upgrade over the iPhone 16e.
In terms of cameras, the iPhone 17e retains the same setup as the iPhone 16e. It features a 48MP Fusion rear camera and a 12MP front camera, with both supporting 4K video recording.
Other key features include Messages via satellite, Emergency SOS via satellite for contacting emergency services, location sharing via satellite in the Find My app, and Crash Detection, which can automatically alert emergency services in the event of a serious car accident.
