Madrid calling for Rudiger, the German set to leave Chelsea

The Spanish club Real Madrid has agreed to sign the Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger at the end of his contract, Chelsea manager was not happy with the German leaving the club and said Rudiger had failed to agree a new deal with the Premier League team.

He is set for a four year contract with the Real’s, “Real Madrid had originally rejected the chance to sign Rudiger but the financial demands were reduced by the player,” said Balague, BBC Sport’s European football expert.

Chelsea’s will to keep Rudiger were hampered by the British government’s sanctions on Russian owner Roman Abramovich, which included a rule that existing players could not sign new contracts. Rudiger has played 200 games for the club with 12 goals to his name.
