Notebooks in the Gemini app

Notebooks give you a dedicated space to organise your chats and files, and because they sync with NotebookLM, you can unlock even more efficient workflows directly from Gemini.

With notebooks, you can keep conversations about a topic organised in one place. Click “New notebook” on the side panel of the Gemini app to get started. You can move past chats into notebooks, give Gemini custom instructions and add relevant files like documents and PDFs to give Gemini more context.

Once your handpicked sources are organised into a notebook, Gemini uses them alongside its powerful tools and web search to provide uniquely helpful responses. Notebooks let you use sources depending on your subscription plan, helping you tackle bigger tasks and longer-running projects.

And since notebooks sync across the Gemini app and NotebookLM, any source you add in one place automatically appears in the other. You can use unique features of each app, like Video Overviews and Infographics in NotebookLM, even if you started a notebook in the Gemini app.

Availability

Notebooks is rolling out in Gemini this week, starting with Google AI Ultra, Google AI Pro and Google AI Plus subscribers on the web. It is revealed that in the coming weeks, the company will expand notebook access in the Gemini app to mobile, to more countries across Europe, and to free users.

In the future, more helpful features for notebooks in Gemini will be introduced.

Last month, Nikita Bier termed the rollout of this feature as the largest cultural exchange in history, as it tears down language barriers for billions, letting global ideas, news, and memes flow freely across the world.

This will help in increasing the global reach of posts without involving a language barrier. Various people on the X platform have noticed that they have seen a surge in Japanese-translated posts on their feeds.

Adding to the list, Vivo has now announced the Android 17 Developer Preview program for its Vivo X300 Pro and iQOO 15 devices. However, as of now, it is limited to the Chinese region, and the brand hasn’t yet revealed the availability of the Android 17 Beta 2 update for the global market.

Here’s more about it.

Android 17 Developer Preview – Vivo X300 Pro and iQOO 15

As per the announcement page, both the devices are now eligible for the Android Developer Preview program, which is based on the Android 17 Beta 2 update, and as mentioned above, it is currently limited to the China region. It has also been confirmed that the update was released on the 2nd of April itself, however, there is no information regarding how many users can access it at the moment.

Speaking more, it is always advisable not to install early beta builds on your primary device, as there are higher chances of bugs and stability issues, and in some cases, the device may even get bricked. Hence, users are advised to proceed with caution.

How to Download and Install?

Speaking about how to download this Developer Preview for the mentioned devices, users can download the package for the Vivo X300 Pro (China) and the iQOO 15 (China) via their respective official links given on the announcement page.

After downloading the package on your system, you can connect your device to a computer using a USB Type-C cable, switch the phone’s USB settings to file transfer mode, and copy the downloaded firmware package to the root directory of the device’s storage.

Following this, head to Settings → System Management and Upgrade → System Upgrade → Upgrade Settings → Local Upgrade, and start the upgrade after the verification process is completed. Once the process begins, users are advised to wait until the device completes the upgrade.

If, for some reason, users wish to downgrade to OriginOS 6, Vivo has provided a detailed process for the same, which can be checked via its official page. As mentioned above, since this is a beta update, it does come with a few known issues. As per Vivo, both the Vivo X300 Pro and iQOO 15 are affected by certain bugs in this current build. The fingerprint feature is currently not working on both devices, and the screenshot function is also unavailable. Additionally, there is a possibility that the small window feature may fail to open, while facial recognition is temporarily unavailable on the iQOO 15 model.

Speaking more, users may also experience app crashes involving both built-in and third-party applications. Certain system settings, such as system style, easy mode, and the privacy system, are also said to cause crashes. Moreover, on the iQOO 15, the Home button may occasionally malfunction, and users are advised to use navigation keys instead.

Vivo has also asked users who face any other issues with this update to report them via the Feedback application. Alternatively, users can also contact the Vivo Open Platform customer service for further support.

It is reported that the police have arrested the alleged mastermind behind this syndicate and 10 others.

This ongoing fraud came into light as a city resident, Sultan, filed a complaint alleging that he was duped of Rs 31.45 lakh after being lured into an investment scheme.

What was found in the investigation?

The police started an investigation, and it was found that the victim was persuaded to download a fake trading application and invest money with promises of high returns. But when he tried to withdraw the profits, the app stopped working, and the associated group became inaccessible.

During the investigation, police uncovered a well-organised network operating across multiple states with links to international cyber fraud syndicates, particularly in Cambodia.

The police said in a statement, “We have so far identified over 260 bank accounts linked to more than 100 fictitious companies used to channel the proceeds of crime. The total number of complaints linked to the syndicate stands at 2,567.”

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), Aditya Gautam, the key accused, Karan Kajaria, was arrested at Kolkata airport on April 3 after a Look Out Circular was issued against him. He was then brought to Delhi for further investigation.

Reportedly, the syndicate created fake investment platforms and messaging groups to lure victims. They used mule bank accounts arranged through intermediaries and deployed malicious apps to capture sensitive banking details, including OTPs. The money collected with this scam was routed through a complex network of bank accounts and shell companies to obscure the trail.

In this scam, Kajaria is said to be the main coordinator who maintained direct links with foreign-based operators and facilitated the movement of funds through cryptocurrency channels. As per the DCP, he was involved in procuring mule bank accounts and sharing sensitive details via encrypted social media platforms, while he also travelled abroad frequently, supposedly to strengthen links with overseas fraud networks.

It is revealed that Kajaria tried to evade his arrest by staying abroad, but technical surveillance helped investigators trace the network to Kolkata, where several bank accounts and shell entities were operating. And when Kajaria arrived at Kolkata airport, he was arrested.

According to the DCP, during interrogation, Kajaria has allegedly confessed to his involvement in the syndicate. Meanwhile, accounts linked to his network were associated with more than 2,500 registered complaints on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal and the fraud of Rs 300 crore.

This syndicate was active for the past 4-5 years and operated across multiple states. Apart from Kajaria, 10 other accused have been arrested in the case so far. The police have also recovered 48 mobile phones, 258 SIM cards, multiple ATM cards and cheque books, 4 laptops, and several banking and KYC documents. The investigation is still ongoing to catch the other members of this syndicate.

Here’s more about it.

Telegram April 2026 Update

This month’s update brings in the AI text editor, which is now integrated with the message bar allowing you to instantly fix grammar, translate languages, or rewrite your text in fun and distinct styles like “Formal, Short, Tribal, Corp, Zen, Biblical and Viking”. In order to access this, you will need to type more than three lines, after which an ‘AI’ icon will appear just above the send button. Telegram also states that this feature, like all other work on the Cocoon Network, processes all requests in a completely private environment with zero access to your personal data.

https://www.thetechoutlook.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/AI-Text-in-telegram-via-April-2026-Update.mp4

Speaking more, the update also brings more than 10 new poll-related features. In the polls, Users will now be able to attach media or locations to both questions and answers, add descriptions, and allow others to suggest new options. Furthermore, it will also display voters next to each option, along with additional controls such as time limits, shuffled options, disabling revoting, and hidden results. Creators will also be able to view poll results without voting. Additionally, all active and past polls are now organized under a dedicated tab within group and channel profiles.

https://www.thetechoutlook.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/More-than-10-Polling-Options-added.mp4

With the latest update, Telegram has also added native support for iOS Live Photos and Android Motion Photos. This allows users to send short looping videos that can be viewed across Telegram apps. There are three playback options available – Live (plays once), Loop (continuous playback), and Bounce (plays forward and backward). Users can access this feature via the media editor by tapping on the ‘Live’ button and selecting the preferred style.

https://www.thetechoutlook.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Live-and-Motion-videos-in-Telegram.mp4

Moreover, Telegram now introduces Managed Bots, enabling specialized bots to create and manage other bots. This feature allows users without coding knowledge to build their own AI agents, business tools, or mini programs through a manager bot.

Additionally, the document scanner feature, which was previously available on Android, is now being rolled out to iOS users as well. Users can access it via Attachment > File > Scan Document. The scanner is capable of stitching multiple images, removing backgrounds, cropping content, and converting files into PDF format. Manual adjustments such as border editing, filters, and rotation are also supported.

Finally, Telegram is also adding a warning label to accounts that use unofficial third-party apps. While Telegram apps are open-source and offer verifiable encryption, the company notes that third-party versions may not provide the same level of privacy and security.
