Minecraft: Java Edition is 17 years old, and the company has been introducing new features and improvements in this game to provide an enhanced experience for gamers. But this game was based on older hardware and older graphics technology.

To provide a stable Minecraft experience and let the game run well, the company has now updated the minimum and recommended system requirements for Minecraft: Java Edition.

Minecraft: Java Edition- Updated minimum and recommended system requirements

For minimum requirements, the new target is 1080p at 30 FPS using the Fast preset. This means a 64-bit system, 8GB of RAM with a discrete GPU or 12GB with integrated graphics, a 4-core processor, and a Vulkan 1.3-capable GPU with at least 2GB of RAM.

For recommended requirements, the new target is 1080p at 60 FPS using the Fancy Preset. This includes 16GB of RAM, a stronger modern processor, and a more capable graphics card with 6GB of VRAM.

These updated requirements are still relatively low when compared with many modern AAA games. But these provide a clear baseline for how to ensure a stable Minecraft experience in today’s times, especially at 1080p.

The recommended system requirements changed on 21st July. According to Minecraft, performance and visual quality are no longer guaranteed on hardware below the new minimum.

It is revealed that if your computer still falls below the new minimum requirements, Java Edition will still launch; performance and visual quality are no longer guaranteed, and it may struggle or fail to launch in the future. The company will keep the players informed about these changes.

You can check out the new updates on the Java System Requirements page on Minecraft.net.

But even with this service, gamers had to join a waitlist to get access to the cloud gaming service. From today, this wait comes to an end as the cloud gaming platform exits the early access beta testing phase. NVIDIA GeForce NOW is now officially launched in India with three plans.

The collegiate esports initiative is aimed at bringing competitive gaming directly to university campuses, while also creating a platform where gaming, technology, and youth culture come together.

Read more about it below.

OnePlus Campus Dominate 2026 – Third Edition of the Collegiate Esports Initiative Announced in India

The third edition of the Campus Dominate 2026 initiative that has been announced by OnePlus is said to be the biggest edition yet, and it will be taking place across 16 universities in eight cities over the next two months. The nationwide collegiate esports initiative will be engaging more than 100,000 students along with over 50 creators through competitive esports, hands-on product experiences, creator interactions, community-led activities, UGC contests, and exclusive OnePlus merchandise giveaways.

In its tournament process, students will be forming 4-player teams and competing within their own universities in BGMI 4v4 matches. Later, the best team from each of the 16 participating universities will be selected as their campus champion. Afterwards, these 16 winning teams will be traveling to the Grand LAN Finale in New Delhi in August 2026, thereby letting them battle head-to-head for the championship and the prize money of INR 10,00,000.

Speaking of the on-ground experience, the tournament will also be anchored by a massive OnePlus Gaming Truck, and it will transform college campuses into immersive gaming arenas. Also, with the help of this gaming truck, OnePlus will be bringing competitive esports, product experiences, creator interactions, gaming challenges, UGC contests, and community-led activities directly to students as well.

The Pune leg of the Campus Dominate 2026 initiative has already been hosted at G H Raisoni College of Engineering and Management on June 29, 2026, and it witnessed the participation of over 3,500 students and 893 Campus Pro players. Also, all the competitive matches of the tournament will be played exclusively on the OnePlus Nord 6, thereby allowing students to experience the gaming-first performance of the device as well.

To add, Campus Dominate has evolved into one of India’s exciting collegiate esports properties, and this year, OnePlus is significantly scaling the initiative with more campuses, deeper on-ground engagement, larger creator participation, and stronger community-led activities.

Commenting on the initiative, Ishita Grover, Director – Marketing, OnePlus India said, “Over the past year, we’ve spent a lot of time understanding what truly resonates with Gen Z, and gaming emerged as one of the strongest passion points. With this insight in mind, we decided to make this year’s Campus Dominate’26 larger than life.”

She further added, “India’s campuses are home to some of the country’s most passionate budding esports athletes. With OnePlus Campus Dominate 2026, we want to create a platform that brings esports directly to students, celebrates campus pride, and gives emerging talent an opportunity to showcase their skills. We believe the future of esports will be shaped by grassroots communities, and initiatives like this help create clearer pathways for aspiring players to grow within the ecosystem”

Sony, via an official announcement, has now confirmed two major updates for PlayStation users. While the PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita will be closing in phases, the brand has also revealed that physical disc production for new PlayStation games will be discontinued starting January 2028.

Read more about the update below.

PlayStation Store for PS3 and PS Vita to Close, Physical Disc Production for New Games Ending in 2028

This might break the hearts of some PlayStation users, but Sony has officially announced that it will be closing the PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita devices. As per what has been shared, the PlayStation Store on PS3 will first close in select markets, starting with Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua in August 2026. For additional Latin American and Middle Eastern countries, the PS3 PlayStation Store will be closed starting late 2026.

In all other countries, the PlayStation Store on both PS3 and PS Vita will be closed in July 2027. Once the store closes on these devices, users will no longer be able to make new content purchases. However, Sony has confirmed that players will still be able to download their previously purchased content after the closing date for the foreseeable future.

Speaking more, Sony says that as the PlayStation Store continues to evolve with modern commerce systems and updated payment processing standards, PS3 and PS Vita are no longer able to support these updates at the required level. Because of this, the company has decided to close the PlayStation Store on these older devices.

Another major update shared by Sony is regarding physical game discs. The company has confirmed that physical game disc production for all new games releasing on PlayStation consoles will be discontinued starting January 2028. Following this, new games will be made available through the PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital formats only.

To note, this transition will have no impact on games that have already been released, or games that will be released before January 2028 in disc format. Sony mentions that this move comes as consumer preferences and the broader entertainment industry continue to shift away from physical discs to digital formats.

The company has also pointed out that it will continue to provide choices regarding where players prefer to purchase new games, whether that is at retailers or through the PlayStation Store. However, with new PlayStation games moving to digital formats only after January 2028, this surely marks the end of an important physical disc era for PlayStation users.

Stay tuned for more updates.

The price hike situation appears to be getting out of hand now, and with the AI sector booming, several tech brands have already started revising the prices of their products. Apple had also recently joined the price hike race by increasing the prices of several of its gadgets, and now Microsoft has also increased the pricing of its Xbox consoles in the US market.

Read more about the update below.

Microsoft Xbox Console Prices Increased in the US Market; New Programs Also Announced

Microsoft has now revised the pricing of its Xbox consoles in the US market, and as per what has been shared, the price hike goes up to USD 150. Along with this, the company has also announced several new programs in order to make Xbox hardware purchases more accessible for players.

Coming to the new US pricing, the Xbox Series S 512GB variant is now priced at USD 499.99, following a price hike of USD 100. The Xbox Series S 1TB variant has also received the same USD 100 price hike, and its new price is now listed as USD 549.99.

About the Xbox Series X Digital model, it has received a bigger price hike of USD 150, and is now priced at USD 749.99. The standard Xbox Series X console has also received a USD 150 price hike, taking its new price to USD 799.99 in the US market.

Speaking more, Microsoft has also made it easier for players to use Buy Now, Pay Later options on eligible Xbox hardware purchases through Microsoft Stores. With this, players will be able to break up their payment into predictable short-term and interest-free installments.

Furthermore, the company is also working with partners to let players purchase eligible Xbox hardware at 0% APR financing for up to 12 months. This will offer more flexibility to players with lower monthly payments and better budgeting control.

Another program announced is related to previously played consoles. Microsoft has mentioned that it is working with retail partners on new programs to provide previously played consoles at lower prices. Players who are ready to upgrade or no longer use their consoles will be able to trade them in with participating retail partners for cash or store credit. These consoles will then be made available at lower prices for other players.

Additionally, Xbox Certified Refurbished Consoles are also available at Microsoft Stores for up to USD 100 off MSRP.

Looking into previous updates, back in March, Sony had also announced a price hike for its PlayStation gaming consoles as well. With the AI sector booming and hardware prices seemingly going up, such price hikes now seem inevitable. However, the main question that still remains is when exactly this price hike race will stop.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Nintendo’s smart device app, Nintendo Today!, is now available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store in India, allowing users to track official news and event schedules.

App Features and Rumored Switch 1 Launch

he Nintendo Today! app includes an event schedule section for users to track Nintendo-related announcements, including upcoming game releases. The application can also be linked with a user’s native calendar to integrate personal schedules directly with Nintendo events.

The app’s regional availability aligns with recent reports regarding Nintendo’s broader hardware strategy for India. As discussed on the Day Zero Podcast by hosts Rishi Alwani and Rahul Majumdar, Nintendo is reportedly preparing to officially enter the Indian market. The company may launch the original Nintendo Switch 1 in India around February or March 2027. Currently, the console is only accessible to Indian consumers through grey market imports and second-hand sellers.

The launch of the Nintendo Today! app establishes an official channel for Indian users to receive direct updates ahead of this anticipated console release.
