Read more about it below.

Google One Premium and Subscribers Google AI Pro – 50% Discount on YouTube Premium

This update comes from Google’s VP and GM of Google One – Shimrit Ben Yair, and as per her post on X, existing as well as new Google One users with a paid subscription plan of USD 10 or above will now be eligible to receive a 50% discount on the YouTube Premium subscription. Additionally, Google Gemini posted from its X account that this offer also extends to Google AI Pro users.

YouTube Premium For Google One

Speaking more, this offer is currently available for users (existing or new) in the US, Brazil, Canada, Germany, France, and Japan, and those interested can claim it before April 29, 2026.

Looking into related updates, Google had recently increased the pricing of its YouTube Premium plans. Many users believe that this new 50% discount offer has been introduced to manage the impact of the recent price hike. Also, to add, users who enroll for the annual individual plan under this offer will continue to renew at the discounted price of USD 80 per year (currently at $159.99/year), making it a more affordable option in the long run.

It is important to note that the discounted YouTube Premium plan is only available to the one person who manages the Google One account (the person who pays for and sets up the family plan). If any of the other family members want YouTube Premium, they have to sign up for it on their own and pay the full, regular price. The discount doesn’t “share” with them.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Updated SmartThings

Enhanced Family Care

Family Care connects SmartThings with a range of home appliances and mobile devices to provide notifications regarding the activities of users’ ageing parents and reminders for medication and hospital visits, as well as location-based alerts. With the new update, the service enables even more thoughtful care.

Samsung’s new Care on Call feature allows users to more closely check on the status of the care recipient through a simple phone call. When a caregiver using the service calls the care recipient, a floating pop-up that displays key information appears before the call begins so that the caregivers can ask more meaningful check-in questions and respond accordingly.

SmartThings continuously monitors devices like Acs, air purifiers, dehumidifiers and humidifiers for indoor temperature, humidity and air quality. If unusual usage patterns are detected, the caregiver is notified, and they can remotely control the relevant device.

Family Care has made the Safety Patrol feature even more convenient. If the care recipient’s activity is not detected for a specified period of time, users receive a notification, and the feature can be remotely activated if the caregiver needs to take action. Using a camera built into the robot vacuum and built-in speaker, and a microphone, caregivers can handle an issue that occurs.

The Care Insight feature has been enhanced to provide even more actionable, long-term data within the Family Care service. It analyses temperature and humidity levels and can also track significant changes in activity levels and connected device usage compared to the previous week.

Expansion of Now Brief to TVs and Family Hub

With the launch of the Galaxy S26 series, Now Brief will support Home Security, Family Care and Pet Care, in addition to existing features that include Home Insight, Energy and the Sleep Environment report. Through Now Brief, users can access the useful information needed to care for themselves, their families and their homes at a glance.

Now Brief provides information such as home device status of the previous night, Home security updates based on lock doors, door sensors, and security mode, parents’ daily activity updates and dog-walking information.

Now Brief will soon roll out in phases to TVs launched in 2024 or later, as well as Family Hub refrigerators launched in 2021 or later.

Users will not need to manually launch Now Brief. If the feature is set up in advance, it will be automatically activated when they approach the TV, touch the Family Hub refrigerator screen or open and close the refrigerator door.

Personal Computer rollout

Personal Computer works as an orchestrator and works across local files, native apps, connectors, and the web in one system. It can help with tasks that are too messy for a chat box and too repetitive to keep doing by hand.

According to the company, one of the best ways to experience Personal Computer in on a Mac mini. On a Mac mini, Personal Computer stays available 24/7 for work that needs a persistent machine or secure local access to your files and native apps. You can initiate tasks from your phone or manage them on the go.

How does it work?

You can ask Personal Computer to read your to-do list and to even do your to-do list. In Notes, just press both CMD keys to activate Personal Computer and ask. Computer will read your Notes to-do list, reason how to accomplish each task, and work across all your local files, iMessage, email, connected apps, and the open web to get it done.

You can ask it to take a messy Downloads folder and sort it into clear project folders, with sensible names and a structure that is easier to work with. Ask it to compare local files against information on the web, then use both to help you make a decision or complete a task. You can control Comet from Computer and can also talk to your Mac with the help of the Personal Computer voice mode.

Both Personal Computer and Perplexity Computer are designed to keep the user in the loop on sensitive actions. You can see what it is doing, step in when needed, and stay in control of important decisions. Files are created in a secure sandbox. Actions are auditable and reversible.

Availability

Personal Computer for Mac is rolling out to Perplexity Max subscribers. The company will prioritise users on the waitlist as they expand the rollout.

Here’s how it works 🧵 pic.twitter.com/F2gu4VExY0

— Google (@Google) April 16, 2026

New ways to create personalised images in the Gemini app

Personal Intelligence gives Gemini an inherent understanding of your preferences from the start. By integrating the context directly with Nano Banana 2, Gemini can automatically fill in the blanks, grounding every creation in the things you care more about.

There’s no extra setup needed. If you’ve already linked your Google apps, that personal context is ready and waiting the moment you start creating images. Instead of writing out the intricate details of your life, you can use simple prompts like “Design my dream house” or “Create a picture of my desert island essentials”, and the results will automatically reflect your specific tastes and lifestyle, gleaned from the Google apps you’ve connected to.

Personal Intelligence securely connects the dots across Google apps like Google Photos, Gmail, YouTube and Search, so the Gemini app inherently understands your likes and interests.

By connecting your Google Photos library to Personal Intelligence, Gemini can use actual images of you and your loved ones to guide the image generation process. Now your inner circle can become the stars of your images, whether you want a result that feels pulled straight from your life or one that takes your imagination a bit further.

You can also experiment with different styles like watercolours, charcoal sketches or oil paintings. You can turn a quick idea into a custom creation, saving you the trouble of searching for, downloading and re-uploading files just to see a concept come to life.

The company has warned that Gemini might not always pick the exact photo or detail you had in mind on the first try. If the result isn’t quite right, you can simply tell Gemini what was incorrect and try again. You can also click the “+” icon and select a different reference photo from your Google Photos library to try a new perspective.

Users can also click on the Sources button to see which image was auto-selected to guide the creation. You can even ask Gemini directly for information on the attribution and sources used for that specific image.

Also, the Gemini app does not directly train its models on your private Google Photos library. And connecting your Google apps to Gemini remains an opt-in experience that you can adjust in your settings at any time.

Availability

The new personalised image creation experience in the Gemini app is rolling out over the next few days to eligible Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers in the US. Google also plans to bring this experience to Gemini in Chrome desktops and to more users soon.

New updates released to YouTube Live

Sending Gifts

Now, viewers can send gifts on your horizontal live streams, in addition to vertical, directly from their mobile device. Gifts are also now live for more creators around the world, including Canada, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand.

The company is also working on bringing gifts to more countries and rolling out unique gifts for local holidays and events.

Ad-free windows for Supers and gift purchases

When a fan shows support with a Super Chat, Super Stickers, or gifts, you want to thank them right away. To make sure that moment isn’t interrupted, we’ll be rolling out an update that automatically creates a personal ad-free window right after their purchase. Once live, it will automatically work for any creator who has automatic ads enabled, a great reason to make sure you’re set up.

Live Chat Engagement

YouTube’s system now recognises when Live Chat engagement is at its peak and automatically holds back ads for everyone. This helps you keep the momentum going for the whole community without being broken up by an ad. This also works only when you have automatic ads turned on.

Customise your stream

With the latest updates, for streaming across formats, you can now go live in both vertical and horizontal at the same time, with everyone joining a single shared chat.

In the coming months, more customisation tools like vertical cropping layouts in Live Studio and multiple stream keys will be rolled out. This will let you send a completely separate, customised feed for both your vertical and horizontal streams.

Stay tuned with The Tech Outlook for the latest tech updates.

You can edit your Instagram comment as many times as you want or need to within those 15 minutes. Though only the text of comments can be edited, and for comments that have a text and a photo, only the text part will be editable.

Once you edit a comment, other users on Instagram will be able to see that the comment was edited, but they will not see the original version.

Earlier, Instagram allowed users to edit their posts on the platform, but this feature was not available for comments. Now with the new update, users can correct typos or make changes just by tapping the “Edit” option within 15 minutes after posting the comment. This will not only enhance the user experience but will also reduce errors in the comment sections.

The editing feature for comments is available for both iOS and Android apps. In case the feature is not visible to you, then you should try updating to the latest version of the Instagram app.

Notebooks in the Gemini app

Notebooks give you a dedicated space to organise your chats and files, and because they sync with NotebookLM, you can unlock even more efficient workflows directly from Gemini.

With notebooks, you can keep conversations about a topic organised in one place. Click “New notebook” on the side panel of the Gemini app to get started. You can move past chats into notebooks, give Gemini custom instructions and add relevant files like documents and PDFs to give Gemini more context.

Once your handpicked sources are organised into a notebook, Gemini uses them alongside its powerful tools and web search to provide uniquely helpful responses. Notebooks let you use sources depending on your subscription plan, helping you tackle bigger tasks and longer-running projects.

And since notebooks sync across the Gemini app and NotebookLM, any source you add in one place automatically appears in the other. You can use unique features of each app, like Video Overviews and Infographics in NotebookLM, even if you started a notebook in the Gemini app.

Availability

Notebooks is rolling out in Gemini this week, starting with Google AI Ultra, Google AI Pro and Google AI Plus subscribers on the web. It is revealed that in the coming weeks, the company will expand notebook access in the Gemini app to mobile, to more countries across Europe, and to free users.

In the future, more helpful features for notebooks in Gemini will be introduced.
