TRAI Releases the Telecom Subscription Data Highlights of October 2025: Jio Adds 19.97 Lakh New Subscribers, While VI Lost 20.83 Lakh of its Users

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released its October 2025 Telecom Subscription Data Highlights, revealing that Jio adds about 20 lakh new users last month to its existing user base. On the other hand, VI loses more than the number of users that Jio gained.

Telecom Subscription Data Highlights of 2025 Officially Released by TRAI

As per the data revealed by TRAI this Friday (on the 28th of November 2025), Reliance Jio still continues to maintain its market dominance with a total user base of 48.47 crore. During the month of October 2025, this India-based Telecom provider added 19.97 lakh new mobile subscribers, and this is said to be its highest gain so far. A little behind, Bharti Airtel still holds the second place, with a user base of 39.37 crore subscribers. Thanks to the 12.52 lakh new subscribers that were added, the total user base for Airtel significantly improved from the user base of 39.24 crore of September 2025.

BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd) also made slight progress during October 2025 when compared to the previous months, and it managed to bring in 2.69 lakh new subscribers. Thus, at the end of October 2025, the telecom provider was able to make its total user base – 9.25 crore. However, Vodafone Idea is still failing to retain its users and has again lost 20.83 lakh users, dropping its user base down to 20.07 crore in October 2025 from the 20.28 crore user base of September 2025.

TRAI - Highlights of Telecom Subscription Data as on 31st October 2025

Looking at the overall highlights, the telephone subscriber base of India has now reached 123.1 crore as on October 2025, and this amounts to a total of 118.4 crore wireless users and 4.6 crore wireline users. From 99.56 crore of September 2025, the number of broadband subscribers has risen up to 99.98 crore during October 2025, marking a growth rate of 0.42%. In terms of wireline subscribers, a growth rate of 0.30% has been noted in October 2025, bringing the total user base to 4.675 crore. Regarding the urban and rural tele-density, it is respectively mentioned to be 8.16% and 0.55% as of October 2025.
