SpaceX introduces new Standby Mode for Starlink at $5/month

SpaceX has introduced a new, cheaper mode for Starlink- Standby Mode, which is said to be designed for emergencies or backup connectivity.

According to the company, the Pause feature on Starlink has been updated. This feature now includes the all-new Standby mode, which comes with unlimited low-speed data for $5 per month, which is perfect for backup connectivity and emergency use. This update will take effect in 30 days.

Standby Mode will allow subscribers to pause their main service without losing all connectivity, just enough for things like messages and emails. The feature expands Starlink’s flexibility, making it easier for customers to stay connected at a lower cost, especially for users in remote areas.

This mode will act as a backup plan, as with a small fee each month, you can keep the internet on for basics without paying for the full plan. Do note that it is not meant for heavy streaming or big downloads.
