SpaceX introduces a new cheaper $40 per month Starlink plan in the US

Elon Musk-led SpaceX’s satellite-based internet service provider Starlink has now got a new affordable plan in the US. Earlier, there were Residential Lite and Residential plans priced at $80 and $120 per month, respectively, and now there is the new plan named the Residential 100 Mbps plan priced at $40 per month.

The Residential 100 Mbps plan offers:

  • Unlimited upload speeds
  • Unlimited data each month
  • $0 kit & free installation
  • 100 Mbps download speed capped

This plan is currently available in selected areas of the US market. This plan is best said to be best suited for 2-3 person households with everyday internet needs such as web browsing, video calls, and HD streaming.

This newly introduced plan is ideal for customers looking for a simpler, lower-cost option with consistent performance for typical household activities.  It’s designed as a simpler option for smaller households that don’t require the higher throughput of Residential Lite and/or Residential service. The Starlink website reveals that the existing Residential customers may switch to the Residential 100 Mbps plan if it appears as an available option in their account.
