Samsung Galaxy S26 Series standard and plus models could be skipped this year

The rumor mill has been buzzing with updates on the upcoming Galaxy S26 smartphone series lately. Earlier reports suggested that this time Samsung could remove the vanilla variant (Galaxy S26) from the series, while later it was tipped that the vanilla variant will be there, but the Plus variant will be replaced by the Edge model.

In its recent report, Android Authority revealed that an internal One UI 8 build suggests that Samsung will be ditching both the standard and plus models this time.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Series could get a major shake-up

An internal One UI 8 build has suggested that the upcoming Galaxy S26 series could consist of three models- Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

For the Galaxy S24 lineup, Samsung reportedly used the internal codename Eureka, with E1, E2 and E3 corresponding to the standard, Plus, and Ultra models, respectively. Similarly, the Galaxy S25 series was given the codename Paradigm, with PA1 (S25), PA2 (S25 Plus,) and PA3 (S25 Ultra).

Now coming to the Galaxy S26 series, an internal One UI 8 build reference three devices labeled M1, M2, and M3, which are used for Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra models respectively, as seen in the above images. In previous lineups, number 1 was used for the base model, but this latest evidence reveals that M1 is associated with a Pro model.

It is assumed that the new variants could mean that Samsung may introduce better specs, while there could also be a price hike. Though readers are advised to take the above information with a pinch of salt, as there is still a lot of time left in the official launch of the Galaxy S26 series, and Samsung may make changes in its final plans.
