New Privacy Display feature spotted on the One UI 8.5 firmware; Key details revealed via Samsung’s Tips app

Previous reports indicated that the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra model could arrive with a Privacy Display feature that will limit visibility from side angles. Well, a new Privacy Display feature has now been spotted in the One UI 8.5 firmware.

Folks at Android Authority revealed that a code within the One UI 8.5 build hints that Samsung is working on a new Private Display/Privacy Display feature. This feature is said to limit screen visibility from side angles to protect the user’s privacy in public. The code for custom conditions for this feature was also spotted. This means users will be able to choose specific conditions under which the feature will be turned on.

Meanwhile, SammyGuru also revealed in their report that the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra may come with a Privacy Display feature. Samsung’s Tips app, which teaches users about new features on their device, revealed a listing for a new feature when they used a device that was spoofed as a Galaxy S26 Ultra to trick the app into revealing this information. There is also an animation video that shows how the feature works when the device is shifted to different angles.

The app revealed that the Privacy Display feature will be located inside the display section of the Settings app, while there will also be a Quick Settings toggle to enable the feature. It can also be triggered automatically based on the app currently open or a notification that pops up.

It is not certain whether this feature will be available only on the Galaxy S26 Ultra model or the whole Galaxy S26 series. But this feature will definitely avoid the unwanted glances on your device.
