Microsoft starts testing the ability to use video wallapapers on Windows 11

Video wallpapers have been a highly requested feature for Windows users, and maybe this is the reason that the Wallpaper Engine app has been widely famous among users, which lets users set video wallpapers on their desktop. Previously, Microsoft supported video wallpapers in Windows Vista as a DreamScene feature for the Ultimate version of the operating system, but DreamScene was dropped from Windows 7

And since then, third-party apps like Wallpaper Engine have gained popularity among Windows users. Well, Microsoft may soon start to support the video wallpaper feature again, as a user named @phantomofearth has shared on the X platform that in the latest Windows 11 Dev/Beta build (26×20.6690), the video wallpaper feature is hidden.

The feature allows users to set videos like .mp4 as their desktop background. The user has further mentioned in the comment section that to get video wallpapers working, you can enable feature ID 57645315 and restart explorer.exe. After enabling this feature, you will notice the video plays every time you view your desktop.

Since Microsoft has started testing this video wallpaper feature on Windows 11, it is expected that soon the feature might be rolled out officially for users, though it is advisable to wait for the official confirmation.
