Honor Magic 8 Air design leaked, tipped to be lighter than iPhone Air
Honor recently launched the Honor Power 2 in China, and the brand may already be gearing up for its next premium smartphone. A new leak suggests that Honor could soon launch a new model under the Honor Magic 8 series, likely called the Honor Magic 8 Air.
Honor Magic 8 Air design leaked
Tipster Ice Universe has shared a design schematic of the Honor Magic 8 Air on X, offering an early look at the phone’s rear design. The leaked image shows a horizontal camera bar that resembles Google’s Pixel lineup. However, unlike the Pixel phones, the LED flash on the Magic 8 Air appears to be placed inside the camera module rather than outside it.
The schematic also suggests an aluminium frame, indicating a premium yet lightweight build. The Honor Magic 8 Air is tipped to be just 6.3mm thick and weigh around 158 grams. The sides appear to feature a volume rocker, a power button, and a third button, which could be a dedicated AI button, similar to what we’ve seen on other Honor Magic 8 and Honor Magic 8 Pro.
It is said that this is a schematic diagram of the Honor Magic 8 Air.

For comparison, the iPhone Air is thinner at 5.6mm but heavier at around 165 grams. Honor seems to be focusing more on reducing weight rather than thickness. Adding to this, Honor Product Manager Li Kun recently shared an image showing the Magic 8 Air on a weighing scale next to the iPhone Air, highlighting its lighter build.
There has also been some confusion about the moniker of this smartphone. Earlier, Fang Fei, President of the Product Line at Honor Terminal Co., Ltd. (via innogyan), said that Honor was preparing a smartphone that merges the strengths of both the Pro and Air lineups, leading to speculation around the name “Honor Magic 8 Pro Air.” However, as per the post by Ice Universe, it will likely be called Honor Magic 8 Air.
As per leaks, the smartphone may feature a 6.3-inch 1.5K flat OLED display, a Dimensity 9500 SoC, a 5,500mAh battery, and 80W fast wired charging, and is expected to launch later this month.
That said, since all details are based on leaks and rumours, it’s best to take this information with a pinch of salt.
