Amazon Announces the Next Evolution of Alexa Custom Assistant for Vehicles, Built on Alexa+ Architecture and Powered by Amazon Bedrock: BMW to First Feature it

After the launch of Alexa+ early this year in 2025, Amazon has now announced its next evolution of Alexa Custom Assistant for vehicles. This latest innovation will be first brought on BMW vehicles.

Amazon’s Alexa Custom Assistant for Vehicles With Alexa+ Announced

The integration of Alexa+ on Amazon’s Alexa Custom Assistant is pointed to be a significant leap in the area of in-vehicle conversation AI, and it offers a combination with more than 70 different large language models as well as agentic capabilities. The shift from simple structured voice commands to natural and intelligent conversations is the main advantage of this integration. Notably, it is also powered by Amazon Bedrock on AWS.

As mentioned above, the Alexa Custom Assistant for vehicles with Alexa+ will be first coming on BMW vehicles, and its debut will take place in certain selected BMW models soon. Next generation voice capabilities with Alexa+, connected vehicle services with AWS, along with virtual hardware environments and sophisticated engineering workflows are projected as few of the key features.

Amazon also plans to expand its Alexa+ technology across across more devices and environments, and the same conversational intelligence and personalized assistance can be expected in other fields too. Also, the collaboration with BMW marks another step towards the brand’s vision in transforming how drivers interact with vehicles.
