However, X has not shared any official update regarding what caused the issue in the first place.

Previous story continues below.

Well, if you aren’t able to post on X, you are not alone, and it is not your internet that isn’t working, but the platform itself, which is currently facing issues. Even on the Downdetector webpage for X, it can be seen that users have started reporting problems with the platform.

Read more about it below.

X Platform Issue – Users Unable to Post via Web

As per what is currently visible on Downdetector, at around 3:37 PM IST, close to 1256 users have reported issues with the platform. Speaking of the issue, while trying to post on X, an error message is being displayed that reads, “Something went wrong, but don’t fret — let’s give it another shot.”, and this is preventing posts from being published.

As of now, this issue appears to be limited to the web version of the platform, while the mobile application seems to be working fine without any such problems.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Following the rollout of the ‘Custom Timelines’ feature (currently in Early Access for Premium subscribers on iOS), X (formerly Twitter) has now announced that it is shutting down its ‘Communities’ feature on 6th of May 2026. In its place, the platform is bringing a more direct, chat-focused approach to user interaction.

Check out more about this latest update below.

X to Remove ‘Communities’ Feature; Introduces New GroupChat Links

As stated above, the ‘Communities’ feature on X, which enabled users to join Facebook-style groups, will be discontinued due to lower engagement levels, as stated by Head of Product at X, Nikita Bier.

Speaking more, X has upgraded the existing ‘XChat’ feature, and will now allow users to generate joinable public links for group chats and share them directly on their timeline, removing the need for manual invitations. This will allow followers to instantly join conversations. Currently, a 350-member limit/per chat is there in the group chats, and as per Nikita, this limit is expected to increase in the future.

Coming to the transition, users who are currently managing an X Community are given only a two-week window to make the necessary changes as the May 6th deadline approaches. In his post, Head of Product at X, Nikita Bier, recommends that Community administrators create a new link for the group chats in XChat at the earliest and pin it to their existing Community page, so that current members can easily join the new chat setup before the old Communities framework is removed completely.

Stay tuned for more such updates.

Well, this same feature has now been announced for X (formerly Twitter).

Here is more to it.

X (Formerly Twitter) Announces Paid Partnership Labels

The Head of Product at X, Nikita Bier, has confirmed that X will now have Paid Partnership labels on posts. In this, if a creator or user is being paid by a brand to promote something, they can now officially mark the post as a “Paid Partnership.”

While announcing this new feature, Nikita also added that “X’s core value is providing an authentic pulse on humanity.” He further said, “While we want to encourage people to build their businesses on X, undisclosed promotions hurt the integrity of the product and lead people to distrust the content they read on X.” Further adding in his post, he said, “This new feature will allow you to comply with regulations, but more importantly: it enables you to be transparent with your followers.”

Here is how you can enable it:

When you compose a message on X, at the bottom, you will see a flag icon. Upon clicking it, a new box will appear titled “Content Disclosure,” below which you will see an option to toggle on or off the Paid Partnership label. By default, it will be turned off, and once you tap on it, the button will turn green.

After that, simply hit post, and your followers will be able to see a “Paid Partnership” label at the bottom of the post.

In case you forget to add it?

In this case, if the creator forgets to add the “Paid Partnership” label, they can simply add it back by clicking the three dots next to the post. Upon clicking, a new window will appear, and the last option you will see is “Add content disclosure.”

While the company maintains that the platform is not primarily designed for children, it says multiple measures have been implemented to help protect younger users.

Here is more to it.

X (formerly Twitter) shares how it is trying to protect children on the platform

Via a post on X by @Safety, the social media platform states they do have several measures in place to protect minors, such as those under 13 cannot create an account, minor accounts (aged 13–17) are defaulted to protected mode, sensitive media is restricted, location sharing is turned off by default, advertisers cannot target users below the age of 18, and where possible, the company states they take a multi-layered age assurance approach to verify or estimate user age.

Under protected mode, the default for young people:

DMs are restricted to receive messages only from accounts they follow by default

A follow request is sent to approve or deny when someone new wants to follow them

Posts are only visible to approved followers

Followers cannot repost or repost with comment

Protected posts do not appear in third-party search engines such as Google

They are only searchable on X by the poster and their followers

Replies sent to accounts that are not following the minor will not be seen (only followers can see posts from protected accounts)

Along with all these measures, X works closely with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) to report suspected CSAM through their CyberTipline, which helps in timely investigation, takedown, and law enforcement action as necessary.

Like artificially inflating likes, retweets, replies, views and follows, often generated by bots, automated scripts, click farms or paid services.

The X (formerly Twitter) platform is currently facing this issue, and to combat the fake engagement, Nikita Beir, X’s head of product, has made a new announcement.

Enhanced detection for automation and spam is being rolled out on the X platform. It is revealed that if a human is not tapping on the screen, the account and all associated accounts will likely be suspended, even if you are just experimenting like a bot experiment. Users are recommended to hold off on plugging in their bots, and if it’s critical, they are advised to use the official API.

Further in the comment section, Nikita has specified that any form of scraping or search that is automated will get caught currently. It also said that more updates will be released later against the increasing artificial engagement cases.

In a statement on X by the official account of the Parquet de Paris, the Paris public prosecutor’s office explained that the search is carried out by its cybercrime unit with the assistance of Europol and CyberGEND. The search is linked to an inquiry that was initiated in January 2025 due to complaints regarding how X’s algorithm functions as well as the content it provides to users. The prosecutor’s office also announced that it is now leaving X and would henceforth communicate on Instagram and LinkedIn.

Elon Musk, the owner of X, and former CEO of X, Linda Yaccarino, have been asked to appear as part of the investigation, as earlier stated by the authorities. The hearings are scheduled to take place in April.

In a blog post at the time, X called the extension of the investigation “politically motivated” and denied allegations that it had manipulated its algorithm.

The search has received international attention following a statement by the founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, criticizing the French authorities for saying that “French police is currently raiding X’s office in Paris. France is the only country in the world that is criminally persecuting all social networks that give people some degree of freedom (Telegram, X, TikTok…). Don’t be mistaken: this is not a free country.”

The label appears as “Stay informed: Manipulated media” and is meant to alert users when they engage with such content. This update comes at a time when AI-generated images, edited videos, and misleading visuals are increasingly being shared online and are often mistaken as real by unsuspecting users. The new warning system is expected to help users better judge the authenticity of posts and reduce the spread of misinformation on the platform.

This is not the only recent safety-focused update from X. Back in December, the platform also introduced a new “Flag as spam” option that allows users to easily report posts they believe to be spam. Users can access this feature by tapping the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of a post and selecting “Flag as spam.” Together, these updates reflect X’s ongoing efforts to improve content moderation and provide users with better tools to manage what they see on the platform.

X is currently facing issues, with users unable to load or reload the platform. Instead, many are seeing an error message that reads, “Something went wrong. Try reloading.”

Even Downdetector shows a spike in reports, indicating that X has been experiencing an outage since around 8:43 PM IST, with several users reporting problems on the platform.

It is likely that the X team is working on resolving the issue, and once services are restored, the company may issue an official statement explaining what caused the outage.

The Priority tab will notify you anytime your mutuals or big accounts interact with you through your post. The new notification format shows you the images from your post and information as to who replied to what.

In the comment section of the above post, it is also specified that anyone with more followers than you will be counted as a big account. Users will also be notified anytime someone follows them with more followers (or has >150K).

This new design is currently launching on iOS + Web. This priority tab feature will be enabled when you hit 500 followers. It is also revealed that in testing, users got the most value after 500 followers, hence it is set as a requirement.

This rollout is aimed at cutting notification clutter amid the growing platform engagement. If you have 500 or more followers on the X platform and want to try out this new feature, update your X app.

Stay tuned with The Tech Outlook for the latest tech updates.

Also, for all its users, X has also unveiled the ‘Flag as Spam’ option, which will help in reporting spams much easier.

Check out more about these latest X additions below.

X Brings New ‘Inspiration’ Feature and ‘Flag as Spam’ Option

The new ‘Inspiration’ feature has been introduced as a dedicated discovery hub on X, and it can be accessed from the ‘Creator Studio’. Creators and brands will be able to make use of it to find the top-performing content on the X platform, in real time, and that too based on factors like engagement, region, language, and time frame.

Speaking more, the feature will let its users identify X posts with the most number of likes, replies, quotes, bookmarks, shares, and even video views. Search results can also be sorted with respect to the engagement factors (likes, replies, shares, and more) as well. Trending content can also be filtered by the last 24 hours, last 7 days, and the last 30 days. Filters like ‘country’ and ‘language’ will also allow them to identify top content as per region and specific audience. Thus, the newly-introduced ‘Inspiration’ feature will turn the user feed focusing primarily on top content, and also transforms X into a live inspiration and trend research tool.
