It looks like we are entering an era where smartphone makers are following Samsung’s lead by not providing chargers’ in the box. Vivo has now joined this trend, launching the Vivo V40 5G in the European market without including a charger in the box. Additionally, if you buy the base memory option, they don’t include a phone case either. Some might say this is a cost-effective measure, but I expected it to come with a charger, especially since its Chinese sibling, the Vivo S19, includes a charger in the box in China.

In terms of specs also, Vivo has given more in the rear camera department while taking a lot from the other side.

Vivo V40 5G Specs

Just like its Chinese sibling, the Vivo V40 5G comes with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC paired with an Adreno 720 GPU and runs on FuntouchOS 14 based on Android 14. It has been launched with LPDDR4X RAM with 8/12GB of virtual RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. It is being offered in 512GB of storage space and sorry you won’t be able to extend with a microSD card.

You will get the same 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, offering a refresh rate of 120Hz, 4500 nits of peak brightness, and a screen resolution of 2800 × 1260. Design-wise, it closely resembles the Vivo S19 with a glass back.

But unlike the Vivo S19, the Vivo V40 5G features a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP main OIS and a 50MP UltraWide ZEISS branded camera with Aura Light system. The front selfie shooter remains unchanged with a 50MP sensor.

The battery size has been trimmed down to 5500 mAh compared to the S19’s 6000 mAh, but it does support 80W fast charging.

Connectivity-wise, you get dual SIM support with eSIM, as well as WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, USB 2.0, and NFC. For protection, it offers IP68 certification and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Price and Availability

The Vivo V40 5G has been launched in two colour options: Stella Silver and Nebula Purple. It comes with two memory options: 8GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB. It will be available in europe at the beginning of July with a price tag of €599.

The Vivo V40 series is getting prepared to launch in the market by passing various certifications like IMDA, GCF, IMEI, UK’s EE, Bluetooth SIG, and Google Play Console. Ahead of its launch its European model’s renders and specifications, have been leaked in an exclusive report by 91mobiles, sourced from Sudhanshu Ambhore. Let’s get to know about it in detail.

Vivo V40 Leaked render

The first and foremost thing you realize after seeing the leaked renders of the alleged Vivo V40 is that it’s not even similar to the Vivo V30 smartphone. It shows a curved display on the sides with a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The rear side shows the refreshed camera module design. Unlike its predecessor, the smartphone has a pill-shaped island on which a circular module houses a dual camera with the ZEISS engraved on it. Another oval-shaped module below this circular module shows smart Aura light a cutout that appears to be a camera though nothing for sure can be said for now. The renders have been leaked in grey and silver color options.

Leaked specifications

The Vivo V40 smartphone can come with a 6.78″ wide FHD+ AMOLED display with a 2400*1080 pixels resolution. It can be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. In the camera department, we can get to see a 50MP primary camera and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens on the rear. Front side it can come with a 50MP selfie camera. The smartphone can be backed by a 5,500mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. It can run Android 14 out of the box and can come in an IP68-rated body.

The rumor mill has been buzzing with the updates of smartphones from the Vivo V40 series lately- Vivo V40 Lite, Vivo V40 SE, and Vivo V40 Pro. Just a few days back, Vivo V40 5G has also joined the list as it was spotted on GCF, UAE’s TDRA and Bluetooth SIG certification websites.

Well Vivo V40 5G has once again made its appearance online as The Tech Outlook has spotted the device on the IMDA certification website with model number V2348.

The database reveals that the smartphone will be supporting WLAN, NFC, and Bluetooth connectivity options. Other than this not much has been revealed about the device from the IMDA website but since the smartphone is continuously making its appearance online it suggests that the smartphone could soon make its debut.

Previous reports revealed that Vivo V40 5G will support dual connectivity which means the device could connect to both 5G and 4G LTE networks. The smartphone will support 13 5G bands while it will also support Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. Looking at the previous track record of Vivo, it is also assumed that the Vivo V40 5G could be the repackaged version of the Vivo S19 smartphone that made its debut today in the Chinese market.
