The much awaited Vivo S17 series smartphones, which includes the Vivo S17, S17 Pro and the S17t smartphones have finally been launched in China. Pre-sales of the smartphones have also begun.

Vivo S17, S17 Pro and S17t Smartphones Launched

Vivo had launched its first S17 series smartphone, the Vivo S17e a few days back and the launch of the full series was confirmed to take place on the 31st of May 2023. As promised, Vivo has launched its S17, S17 Pro and S17t smartphones, the rest of the S17 series devices that was to have its launch today.

The three devices are now put up for pre-sales but before heading there, let’s go through the specs of the newly launched smartphones

Vivo S17

The Vivo S17 smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ 5G chipset and runs on the Android 13 based Origin OS 3 custom UI. It is also integrated with the Adreno 642L GPU. Three storage variants of the device is made available with storage options of 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB.

The device for its display features an AMOLED display panel with a screen size of 6.78 inch and has a screen resolution of 1260 x 2800 pixels. Its also supports a 120Hz refresh rate.

Coming to its cameras, the smartphone has a dual camera setup at its rear with a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera. For selfies, a 50MP front facing camera is also offered on the device.

Regarding its battery, the device packs a 4600 mAh battery and supports an 80W fast charge feature.

The S17 smartphone is available in three colour choices of Black, Pink and Blue.

Now about its price, the 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB and the 12GB/512GB storage variants are priced at CNY 2,499, CNY 2,799 and CNY 2,999 respectively.

Vivo S17 Pro

The Vivo S17 Pro is the top end smartphone of the series and has arrived with the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset. The S17 Pro also runs on the Android 13 based Origin OS 3 custom UI and is equipped with the Mali-G610 MC6.

The device has been launched in three storage variants – 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB

Vivo’s S17 Pro smartphone also has the same 6.78″ AMOLED display used in the S17 smartphone with the same screen resolution and refresh rates.

When it comes to the rear cameras, the Vivo S17 Pro smartphone sports a triple camera setup at its rear with an additional 12MP telephoto camera along with the 50MP main camera and 8MP ultrawide camera. The same 50MP front camera used in the S17 smartphones is also offered on the S17 Pro.

While talking about its battery backup, the smartphone packs the same 4600 mAh battery of the S17 smartphone and comes with a fast charge support of 80W.

Three colour choices are offered to its users and users will be able to pick from Black, White and Blue colours. The high end storage option of the smartphone(12GB/512GB) is priced at CNY 3,499 and the low end variant(8GB/256GB) has a price of CNY 3,099. The 12GB/256GB storage variant comes at a price point of CNY 3,299

Vivo S17t

Speaking about the S17t smartphone, the smartphone in terms of its specs and price is the ditto of the S17 smartphone and only differs from the device with the processor used.

The Vivo S17t smartphone comes equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 8050 (6 nm) chipset and is integrated with the Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. The smartphone just like the other devices operates on the Android 13 based Origin OS custom UI.

For its price, as mentioned the device comes at the same price point of the Vivo S17 smartphone and its price ranges from CNY 2,499 to CNY 2,999 for its 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB storage variants.

The pre-sales of the smartphones have already begun on the brand’s official Chinese website with its full sales scheduled to start on the 8th of June 2023, at 10 AM local time.

Vivo S17 Series Camera Features Revealed

The Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer, Vivo has already launched its S17e smartphone in its home market, in China and has confirmed to launch the other smartphones of the S17 series on the 31st of May, 2023. The S17 Pro and the S17 smartphones are the two expected devices to be launched. The Vivo S17t, another smartphone of the series might also be making its appearance in the Chinese market along with the S17 and S17 Pro smartphones.

Vivo’s S17 series will be featuring a 50MP front facing camera with industry’s best 90 degree field of view and a super large aperture of  f/2.0. At its front, the S17 series will also be having dual LED flashlights.

Coming to its rear, the camera module will house a professional telephoto portrait lens with 2x close-up zoom.

Upcoming Vivo S17 series: Specifications (Revealed)

As per the database, Vivo S17 and S17t will feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 1260×2800 pixels resolution. Vivo S17 will be powered by a 2.5GHz processor while S17t  is expected to come with a 3GHz processor.

Both the devices will offer 8GB/12GB/16GB RAM and 128GB/256GB/512GB internal storage. The devices are supposed to feature a dual rear camera setup that includes 50MP primary camera and 8MP secondary camera. Along with that, the devices could also feature a 50MP selfie camera.

If we talk about the Pro model, could feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED curved-edge display. It might pack up a triple rear camera setup that includes 50MP primary camera, 12MP secondary camera, and 8MP tertiary. Just like the other two devices it could also feature 50MP front camera.

All three upcoming devices are expected to run on OriginOS 3.1 based on Android 13 OS.

Vivo is reportedly working on the Vivo S17 series of smartphones for the Chinese market. It appears that its launch is imminent, as Vivo China’s Vice President and General Manager of Brand and Product Strategy, Jia Jingdong, has shared the camera samples of the Vivo S17 series.

While Jingdong released the below-shown camera samples of the Vivo S17 and S17 Pro, he did not reveal any information on the cameras of these devices.

Recent reports have revealed that the Vivo S17 and S17 Pro will come equipped with an autofocus-enabled 50-megapixel front-facing camera. The S17 is likely to feature an OIS-enabled 64-megapixel main camera on the back. It is likely that the S17 Pro will sport an OIS-assisted 50-megapixel primary camera. The details of their auxiliary cameras are yet to be revealed.

There are numerous rumours suggesting that the Snapdragon 782G will power the Vivo S17. The S17 Pro is said to be equipped with the Dimensity 8200. Hence, the Pro model will rival the likes of the OPPO Reno 10 Pro and the Xiaomi Civi 3, which are expected to feature the same chipset. The S17 and S17 Pro may pack a 4,500mAh battery. While the vanilla variant will support 66W charging, the Pro model will offer 80W charging.

It is speculated that the Vivo S17 and S17 Pro will feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with curved edges. The screen will offer an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. Both phones will run on the Android 13 OS and the OriginOS 3 UI. The S17 is likely to arrive with 8 GB / 12 GB of Ram and 128 GB / 256 GB storage, whereas the S17 Pro could be equipped with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage.

Vivo is expected to soon unveil the Vivo S17 series in the Chinese markets. The series is reported to include three smartphones- Vivo S17, Vivo S17 Pro, and Vivo S17e. Out of these three Vivo S17e has already been launched in the Chinese market. In the past few weeks, the S17, S17e, and S17 Pro models are spotted making their appearance on the internet revealing some of the other details about the three devices.

We have now spotted the two upcoming models in this series- S17 and S17 Pro on the MIIT certification website with model numbers V2283A and V2284A.

The website revealed that both smartphones will support NR NSA/NR SA/TD-LTE/LTE FDD/WCDMA/GSM network connectivity and will be 5G enabled devices. It was also revealed that the smartphones will run on Android OS but the version was still not mentioned on the database. Though as with other newly launched devices, this series is also expected to run on Android 13 OS.

Vivo S17 and S17 Pro: Specifications (expected)

Vivo S17 is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 778G or Snapdragon 782G processor whereas the Pro model could be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8200 processor. Vivo S17 is expected to offer up to 12GB RAM and up to 256 GB internal storage whereas Vivo S17 Pro might offer up to 16GB RAM and up to 256 GB internal storage.

Vivo S17 might pack up a dual rear camera setup that includes 50MP primary camera and 12MP telephoto camera. The Pro model was previously revealed to pack up a 50MP primary camera with OIS support, 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP portrait camera with center focus.

Both smartphones are expected to feature a 1.5k display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Also, both smartphones were earlier revealed by the 3C certification to support 80W fast charging.

Vivo S17 Receives 3C Certification

Vivo after the launch of the S16 series smartphones in 2022, has already started its work with the next S-series smartphones and just like the previous S16 series, the S17 series will also be including three smartphones – the Vivo S17e, Vivo S17, and Vivo S17 Pro.

We had in the past revealed the model numbers of all the S17 series smartphones and the Vivo S17 has appeared on the 3C certification platform with the model number, V2283A.

Three of its charger models have also been listed along with the smartphone with model numbers, V8073L0A0-CN, V8073L0B0-CN, and V8073L0D0-CN, and will offer a power output of 10W, 18W, and 80W respectively. This points to the fact that the upcoming Vivo S17 smartphone might probably support an 80W fast charge feature.

As the device has got listed on the 3C certification website, the smartphone’s launch is not far away and can be expected soon.

For those of you who didn’t know, the Vivo S17e has already made its appearance on the Geekbench database and also on the Google Play Supported Devices list. The camera specs of the Vivo V17 Pro smartphone have also been tipped.

For its display, the smartphone is likely to feature a 1.5K OLED display panel with curved edges and should probably have a refresh rate of 120Hz.

At its rear, the smartphone may feature a dual camera setup with a 50MP Sony IMX766V main camera with OIS support(optical image stabilization) and a 12MP IMX663 telephoto camera.

It should be noted that all these specs are based on rumors and we’ll have to wait for more updates or until the launch of the smartphone to confirm these specs.

Today, we have new reports confirming that Vivo is planning to release another smartphone from the S17 series called the Vivo S17e. As we previously reported exclusively, Vivo is planning to launch three smartphones in the S17 series: the S17(V2283A), S17 Pro(V2284A), and S17e(V2285A). The Tech Outlook has exclusively spotted the Vivo S17e with model number V2285A on the Google Play Supported devices list. Since it has appeared on the supported devices list we may soon see it listed in the Google Play Console which may reveal some additional information about this smartphone. Although the listing doesn’t provide any information about the smartphone, it does suggest that the launch is near.

The specification we know so far about Vivo S17e

According to a previous report, the Vivo S17e was spotted on the Geekbench listing with the same model number V2285A, which revealed some key specifications of the smartphone. The listing indicated that the smartphone will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7200, which was launched in February. The recently launched Vivo V27 is also equipped with the same processor and is priced at ₹32,999 (Approx. $403.45) in India.

In addition to the processor, we know that the Vivo S17e will come with at least 8GB of RAM and FunTouchOS 13 based on Android 13 out of the box. Rumors suggest that the Vivo S17e will be a repackaged version of the Vivo V27 with some tweaks, and we also believe this to be the case, as both devices are spotted with the same chipset.

So far Vivo hasn’t confirmed any details about this smartphone, nor the launch date officially. Given the progress that this smartphone is making in its certification process, we believe that it may launch in May, possibly in China like every other Vivo smartphone.

The Vivo S17 lineup will consist of three smartphones: the Vivo S17, the Vivo S17 Pro, and the Vivo S17e. These devices will have model numbers, such as V2283A, V2284A, and V2285A, respectively. Some of these handsets are likely to be released as part of the Vivo V29 series in markets outside of China.
