The same is with China, Taiwan, and America’s rival triangles. Actually, it’s not a usual love triangle but a bad blood triangle that is on the verge of a cold war. China is the second largest economy after America and with this comes the rivalry between them.

There are a number of reasons for the China and America altercation. China’s expansion policy, the Taiwan matter, and Uighur Muslims are among the biggest reasons for this. But there was only one way through which America could come closer to China and that was Taiwan. Taiwan claims to be part of China by the Chinese government but Taiwan denies it completely. Under a one-China policy, whosoever wants to trade with China will have to consider Taiwan as China’s integral part.

A series of meetings of Taiwan delegates with American delegates has provoked China and caused it to focus on its chip industry. Taiwan is the biggest contract chip-making industry in the world and one of the most important industries in Asia. This makes Taiwan a sensitive point that China can’t afford to have an altercation with. Being a tech giant means having enough chips and that indirectly means having good relations with Taiwan.

So China is not only trying to keep Taiwan under its power but also focusing on local chip development. America has also suggested its manufacturers not import any chip that comes from China or China-ruled Taiwan. They have given one year contract for chip-making to a non-Chinese company in China itself. This is breaking the spine of Taiwan’s economy.

Musk suggested that Taiwan should become a special administrative zone of China in an interview with The Financial Times. He also added that the governments of China, as well as Taiwan, could possibly get into a reasonably palatable arrangement.

This led to sparks between the Chinese and Taiwanese counterparts. The Chinese ambassador to the United States of America supported and agreed with what Musk had expressed. Whereas, the Taiwanese counterpart argued that freedom is not for sale. Taiwan is an independent country. Although, it is not recognized by several other countries. Even the United States of America does not have any official ties with Taiwan. Taiwan believes in its sovereignty and its Constitution.

Musk also suggested that China and Taiwan could work out a similar arrangement to the one with Hong Kong. The Chinese ambassador came up with the idea of One Country, Two Systems amongst this. However, Taiwan refuses to be governed by China as the tiny nation is a self-governed one. Additionally, Taiwan also has its own constitution. The Foreign Minister of Taiwan, Mr. Joseph Wu, condemned China’s constant military drills around Taiwan. Taiwan and China have always had tense relations and a solid solution is a must to end this rivalry and conflict altogether.

Earlier, Elon Musk had also commented on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and their strained ties. His statements have been condemned by many. Whereas, he has also gained support and praise from many.

Accordingly, on Monday, the Chinese foreign ministry said that the Taiwan is a part of China and China will be organising normal military exercises in their own waters professionally.

Consequently, China’s Eastern Theatre Command today stated that it would organize joint drills, focusing on the anti-submarine and amphibious warfare, due to the fears of some security officials thinking that the Beijing would continue to pressurize on Taiwan’s defences. Also, the suitable departments have been iEasternssued, according to both the domestic and international law.

The location of the military drills is yet unknown, but Taiwan has already relieved the flight restrictions near the six Chinese exercise areas surrounding the island.

Last week’s Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan has angered China, and said that the self-ruled island is its own part and answered with a test launches of missiles over Taipei, the capital of Taiwan for the first time.

It was informed so to avoid the indication that Taiwan is independent of China, reports stated.

The tech company took this step to avoid complications in supply chains from Chinese scrutiny. The company is dependent on components from Taiwan for further use in their new products that are meant to be launched later this year.

On Thursday, some iPhone components were held for review by Chinese scrutiny. It was checked whether the shipments were labelled to China’s satisfaction.

Recently, US House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan which received a strong reaction from China. Even though China has never controlled the self-governed democratic country, it still claims Taiwan as their own.

Beijing saw Pelosi’s actions as politically provocative and as a challenge to China sovereignty. China’s assistant minister of foreign affairs tweeted about this. Pelosi was outspoken in her support of Taiwan’s independence.

Apple, the tech giant is reliant on China for receiving components for its products. A quarter of rhe company’s suppliers were located in China last year. Additionally much of thr company’s product also gets assembled in China.

When asked about China’s drills, Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesperson, said: “This is China’s sovereign right.”

“The tension in the region and around Taiwan was provoked… by the visit of Nancy Pelosi,” Peskov told reporters on a conference call. “It was an absolutely unnecessary visit and an unnecessary provocation.”

A few Taiwanese citizens were interviewed by the media regarding the Chinese military drills.

“Everyone should want money, not bullets,” joked one, referring to recent troubles in the economy. The 63-year-old Lu Chuan-hsiong was out taking a morning swim. He claimed not to be bothered. “Because Taiwanese and Chinese, we’re all one family. There’s a lot of mainlanders here, too,” he said.

More worried were those who had to work near the water. The owner of a fishing vessel, Chou Ting-tai, remarked: “It’s very close. This will impact us, but if they want to do this, what can we do?”

Despite the rising political tension, life goes on as usual in Taiwan.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said today that Pelosi visiting Taiwan is not about democracy rather it is an issue about China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China has issued a statement today where they claimed that the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representative Nancy Pelosi has violated the one-China principle and the provisions regarding the China-U.S. joint communiqués after visiting the Taiwan region.

According to the statement, it has trembled the foundation of China-U.S. relations and disputed Chinese sovereignty and territorial integrity as it will provoke the separatist forces to initiate ‘Taiwan Independence’ which is strongly opposed by China. As Taiwan is an “inalienable part of China’s territory,” and is represented by the Government of the People’s Republic of China as a whole Chinese nation. The statement has also claimed that this has been recognized by the United Nations General assembly Resolution 2758 of 1971 and 181 countries who have tied diplomatic relations with China on the basis of their one-China principle.

According to the statement in 1979, the United States also made a commitment while signing diplomatic relations as a part of the China-U.S. Joint Communiqué which states, “The United States of America recognizes the Government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legal Government of China. Within this context, the people of the United States will maintain cultural, commercial, and other unofficial relations with the people of Taiwan.” According to the commitment the U.S. is obliged to maintain the one-China policy and should abstain from having any official exchanges with China’s Taiwan region.

The statement also claimed that China has opposed the U.S. Congressmembers from visiting China all along and the U.S. executives will also stop such activities as per the commitment.

Nancy Pelosi further added that several other US senators visited Taiwan recently including the chair of the foreign relations committee Democrat Bob Menendez but they were not criticized by the Chinese authorities even for once.

Prior to the US House Speaker visiting Taiwan Chinese President Xi Jinping warned US President Joe Biden that “whoever plays with fire will get burned,” on the recent Taiwan issue. China claims the self-ruling nation Taiwan to be a part of it and a breakaway state which will eventually be annexed to China, however, Taiwan’s citizens see their nation as a separate country. Also, China’s Foreign Ministry further added that the People’s Liberation Army would not stand “idly” if Nancy Pelosi visits Taiwan.

However, Nancy Pelosi said amid the constant criticism that meeting with Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen was a proud moment for women’s leadership. Pelosi said, “It’s a great pride for us today, the first woman speaker in the House meeting the first woman president of Taiwan. We have some enthusiasm for that.”

Reportedly Taiwan’s elected female politicians develop a sharp contrast with China’s patriarchal ruling Communist Party where seven men are elected as members of the Chinese Standing Committee. China’s only woman politician Sun Chunlan is a 25-member Politburo will be retiring this year in 2022.

Whereas Taiwan’s top tire leaders are women in politics who refuse to be noted by the term “female politicians.” According to the Women’s Economic Empowerment Summit in 2019 Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen said, “I will not stop until the term ‘female president’ is a thing of the past” while acknowledging his position as a duty toward the nation.

Nancy Pelosi also stated that her visit has enriched her with the knowledge of who can visit the nation island and she would appreciate it if China won’t stand in the way of Taiwan visiting other nations and certain meetings.
