We are in the city of Indore and the South African side have posted a total of 227/3 in their 20 overs.

Winning the toss didn’t go in favour of the Indian side, it was a poor display of bowling from the bowlers of India, and it was a sheer South African dominated performance in the first innings.

Rilee Rossouw struck his maiden T20I ton as he guided South Africa to a mammoth total. Rossouw and Quinton de Kock, who also smashed a cracking half-century, handled the Proteas innings after they had lost captain Temba Bavuma early. Umesh Yadav and Deepak Chahar scalped a wicket each for India.

Here is the playing 11 of the two teams:

Team India:

Rohit Sharma(c), Rishabh Pant(w), Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik, Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harshal Patel, Deepak Chahar, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj

Team South Africa:

Temba Bavuma(c), Quinton de Kock(w), Rilee Rossouw, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Wayne Parnell, Dwaine Pretorius, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi

At the moment, India are 109/6 in 11.1 overs with Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin on the crease, a tough ride seems to be waiting for India, with no chances of winning.

The Proteas were restricted to 106/8 in their 20 overs and India despite losing the early wickets of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli made sure that all things are under control from there on.

KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav (SKY) guided the side to an 8-wicket win, both batters brought up their half centuries and the man of the hour, SKY put up another great show with the bat, a huge positive for the Indians stepping ahead of the World Cup in a few days.

The duo put up a partnership of 93 from 65 balls and finished the game with 20 balls to spare. Seems like winning the toss, went in favour of Rohit Sharma and his boys as the due factor made all the difference in the second innings.

For India, Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar were the shining stars as they picked up 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Harshal Patel also scalped a couple and Axar also earned 1 for himself.

The second T20I is scheduled in Guwahati at the Barsapara Stadium on the special occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October.

It’s the first of the three match T20I series and the Indians look to put up their A game on, just before the World Cup kicks off in Australia, which is nearly two weeks away.

However, the match will be a short affair as both teams will play 8 overs each. There are also some more changes to the playing 11 conditions:

The toss will take place at 9:15 PM IST, 15 minutes before the start of the game. As per the rules, the toss takes place half hour before the start of play.

There will be a 2-over powerplay in this game. Usually in a 20-over game, there is only one powerplay which is for the first six overs.

A bowler can bowl a maximum of 2 overs in the 8-over game. The rules regarding this were altered in 2017.

There will be no drinks break in the 8-over game. There’s a drink break after 10 overs. Also, players call substitutes when they require drinks.

The first innings of the contest will be held from 9:30 PM IST to 10:04 PM. There will be an innings break of 10 minutes. The 2nd innings will kick off at 10:14 and shall be completed by 10:48 PM IST.

At the moment, Australia are 3 wickets down for the score of 31 in 4th over. Skipper Aaron Finch and wicketkeeper Mathew Wade are on the crease.

Ben Duckett put on a great show as the batter hit a 22 ball 43, but skipper Moeen Ali was the cherry on top of the cake as he made a quickfire 55* in 23 balls.

Moreover, Phil Salt, Alex Hales and Harry Brook also made crucial contributions with the bat.

“What criticism?” KL Rahul instinctively asked when he was asked about his T20 strike rate hype. Moreover, Rahul shrugged off questions surrounding himself at the position in which he plays in the format, he said that strike rate doesn’t tell you the entire story, however, he added that “it is something” he is working on.

“Strike-rates are taken on an overall basis. You never see when that batsman has played at a certain strike-rate, whether it was important for him to play at 200 strike-rate, whether the team could still have won (by) striking at 100 and 120,” Rahul told reporters in Mohali on Monday ahead of India’s three-match T20I series opener against Australia on the 20th at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.

“Strike-rate is something I am working at. I am working towards it, on how I can improve myself as an opening batter and see how I can have the most impact for my team when I go out to bat,” added the Lucknow Supergiant’s captain. Rahul strikes at 140.91 in the T20Is, which is just above his overall T20 strike-rate of 137.35.

KL also thanked coach and captain, Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma, who have been given the players immense support and an environment, which is not afraid to fail.

“We criticise ourselves more than anyone else because we are representing our country. So, when we don’t do well, it hurts the most. I have a leader, coach, and support staff, who encourage players who are going through a rough patch. Every individual wants to see a little bit of support, and that is what I have received.” concluded the vice-captain.

By dismissing Wanindu Hasaranga, Rauf joined Mohammad Amir, who also claimed his 50th wicket in his 41st T20I. Umar Gul, the current bowling coach of Afghanistan, who retired in 2010, is the fastest, having achieved the feat in 36 matches. Saeed Ajmal and Hasan Ali are second and third respectively.

As far as the Asia Cup final is concerned, Rauf had an amazing time on the field. Before getting the better off Hasaranga, Rauf is also accountable for the wickets of Pathum Nissanka and Danushka Gunathilaka.

However, Haris Rauf gained some limelight after showing his magic for the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Afterwards, he played well for skipper Glenn Maxwell’s Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL).

Hence, Rauf is known for his ability to generate serious pace and batters have had a difficult affair on facing him. Rauf was also part of Lahore Qalandars earlier this year, as they won their first PSL trophy.

Earlier, Virat Kohli roared with the bat as India posted a strong and defendable total of 181/7 in 20 overs against Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup Super-4 clash fixture at the Dubai International Stadium. Pakistan have started off strong in the chase, with Rizwan hitting the first ball for a boundary and Babar Azam also finding the boundary in the first over.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul had earlier given a strong start, scoring 54 runs in the first five overs, which was a big score before the powerplay.

However, India lost a sea a wickets, which got the better of them and slowed down their momentum in the middle overs. Ravi Bishnoi struck two important boundaries of the last two balls of the first innings as he got a bit of help from the hands of Fakhar Zaman, as India ended their innings on a positive note at the end.
