Samsung’s rugged version tablet which is expected to launch early this year in 2024 has received the NBTC certification from Thailand. It is the 5G model that has been certified.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 tablet – 5G model has been listed on the NBTC certification platform with the model number – “SM-X306B”, and has been certified with the certificate number – “B38686-23”. The database categorizes the tablet under the cellular mobile section, revealing it to support 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G network connectivity.

Apart from the 5G model, there will also be a Wi-Fi-only model too for the tablet, and both these variants have made it to different certification platforms such as the KTL, Safety Korea, FCC, Geekbench, TDRA, IMDA, and Bluetooth SIG platforms. Some of its specifications are also now known via these certifications/listings.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 – Revealed Specifications

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Active 5 is pointed out to come equipped with the brand’s own Exynos 1380 5G processor and will be running on the latest Android 14 operating system. A RAM option of 6GB and an internal storage of 128GB will also be present for the device, along with a microSD card support with expandable storage of up to 64GB. The tablet will also pack a 4900 mAh battery and will have a 15W wired fast charge feature. Other specs are the S-Pen support and the Bluetooth connectivity of version 5.3.

As far as the launch is concerned, it is possible that Samsung may launch its latest rugged version of tablet – the Galaxy Tab Active 5 early this year itself as mentioned, and all these certifications and official listings are suggesting the same.

The Wi-Fi only model of the Galaxy Tab Active 5 carrying the model number – “SM-X300” had received the KTL, Safety Korea, and FCC certifications before, and is now being certified by one more global certification body. On the IMDA certification platform, the tablet has been categorized under the low-power device section, and its listing points that it is a tablet supporting Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. No other details have been revealed via the database.

Early this month, the upcoming Galaxy Tab Active 5 5G model was also certified by the TDRA authority, and it is the TDRA certification which confirmed its moniker. Also to add, apart from the model numbers “SM-X300″(Wi-Fi only model) and “SM-X306B”(5G model), the device also bears the model numbers – “SM-X308B”, “SM-X306N”, and “SM-X308U” as per the KTL listing.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 (5G Model) – TDRA Certification

The 5G variant of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Active 5 has been certified by the TDRA certification authority with the equipment registration number of “ER26759/23”, and has been listed on the database with the model number “SM-X306B”. The device has been categorized under the tablet/PC section, and its certification will be valid till the 5th of December 2026.

With this same model number, the device was previously spotted on the KTL and FCC certification platforms, as well as on the Geekbench database. The Wi-Fi model(SM-X300) has also been certified by the KTL and FCC authorities, and also by the Safety Korea certification authority too.

To add, there was previously a confusion regarding the moniker of the device. In 2020, Samsung unveiled a rugged version tablet named Galaxy Tab Active 3, whereas last year’s rugged tablet was called Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro, and this caused a doubt regarding whether the tablet would have the moniker “Galaxy Tab Active 5” or “Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro”. The TDRA certification confirms its moniker to be Galaxy Tab Active 5.

Galaxy Tab Active 5 – Expected/Revealed Specifications

Some of its expected/revealed specifications include the Exynos 1380 5G processor, Android 14 OS, 6GB RAM variant, 128GB internal storage, up to 64GB expandable storage support, S-Pen, and two color choices of Black and Grey. The real life image of the tablet also points that it would look more like the 2020 Galaxy Tab Active 3 with three physical buttons and thick bezels.
