Those in South Korea waiting for the January 2025 security patch update for their Galaxy S23 may not have to wait any longer. Samsung has already started rolling out the One UI 6.1 January 2025 security patch update. Just to add, the Indian and the European variants have already received the January 2025 security patch update for their Galaxy S23.

The update, which is currently being rolled out, has the build number S918NKSS5CXLS/S918NOKR5CXLS/S918NKSS5CXLS and comes with a total size of 430.58MB. Although the Galaxy S23 series didn’t receive the open beta update for One UI 7.0, it is expected that Samsung may announce the rollout schedule during the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event.

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event is just a week away, and everyone has been talking about the OneUI 7.0 release. Earlier, it was reported that the Galaxy S24 received the January 2025 security patch, suggesting that OneUI 7.0 will not be released this month for the Galaxy Old models. Now, the Galaxy S23 is also getting the January 2025 security patch update, which is currently being rolled out in India and Europe. Some users have already reported receiving the update, but if you haven’t received it yet, chances are you’ll get it within a week or two, as the rollout typically takes that much time.

While the EU variant is only receiving the security patch, the Indian variant includes the AUTO Blocker feature, which prevents USB devices from connecting to the device except for charging. In the EU, the update is being rolled out with the build number “S911BXXS7CXL2/S911BOXM7CXK4/S911BXXU7CXK4,” while the Indian variant carries the same build number.

This update is being rolled out with the OneUI 6.1 version, and the update size is 372.50MB(Indian variant). It is expected that Samsung will start rolling out OneUI 7.0 after the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event or announce the rollout schedule at that time. Most likely, the rollout will begin next month.

Samsung Galaxy S23 – Green Line Issue with November/December 2024 Security Patch Update?

As per what is being reported by Galaxy S23 Indian users on Samsung’s community page and other social media platforms, it is following the November/December 2024 security patch update that the screen line issue has arrived and no kind of physical damage has happened to their respective devices. Even so, Galaxy S23 users in India are denied free screen replacement pointing out that this is not a common problem for the Galaxy smartphone model. However, already many have started complaining and posting how they are facing this issue even after taking good care of the device.

Do note that Samsung is currently having its One Time Free Screen Replacement for certain models until the end of this month, till 31st December 2024. Unfortunately, the Galaxy S23 is not among the eligible list of devices.

There is a hack proposed by a Reddit user, which seems to have worked for a Galaxy S23 user who faced the green line issue post the November 2024 security patch update. After enabling the Developer Mode, visit it and disable both ‘HW overlays’ and ‘Simulate color space’. Then reboot the device and the change can be found. While this hack wouldn’t solve the problem immediately, it does work as reported by the Galaxy S23 user.

Samsung, the South Korean tech giant, has brought a price cut down to two of its 2023 flagships in the S23 series. Significant price difference have been made for the models

Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ Price Cut Down

Four models of the series have received this drop in price (two storage variants of each smartphone). The dealer price is what has been reduced by Rs. 10,000, subsequently bringing changes to the list price. The new pricings have already come to effect as of on the 7th of January 2024, and customers can now purchase the respective models with the discounted price points.

For the vanilla Galaxy S23, the 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB models’ dealer prices are now Rs. 63,999(exclusive of GST – Rs. 54,236.44) and Rs. 68,999(exclusive of GST – Rs. 58,473.73) [From Rs. 73,999 and Rs. 78,999], and have list prices of Rs. 64,999(exclusive of GST – Rs. 55,083.90) and Rs. 69,999(exclusive of GST – Rs. 59,321.19).

Samsung began rolling out the latest Android 14-based OneUI 6 update to beta users of Galaxy S23 at the end of last month. Users started receiving it in multiple regions including India. Now a new update has come regarding it that says that Samsung has released a stable One UI 6 update for beta users of Galaxy S23 in the USA.

This update has come from an X user named Tarun Vats who shared the image of this update. As per the image shared by Tarun, the update is 423.25 MB large and comes with the November 2023 security patch. The update can be identified by version S918USQU1BWK4/ S918UOYN1BWK4/

The update comes with a revamped Quick panel and app interface, and a new face type called OneUI Sans. Some AI features like Photo Remaster, and Object Eraser in Gallery app will also be seen. Samsung is now reported to close the One UI 6 beta program of the Galaxy S23 smartphone by the end of this week. Inspection of all the beta versions is currently going on.

Galaxy S23 One UI 6 Beta Program Closing Soon

Samsung started the One UI 6 beta program for its S23 series smartphones, comprising of the S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra devices, in the month of August, but was only made available to users in the countries of South Korea, Germany, and the US. Later, at the beginning of September, users in the countries of Poland, India, China, and the UK were also made eligible to be a part of the brand’s S23 series One UI 6 beta program.

A total of 8 beta updates have been rolled out to the S23 series devices within the past three months, and with each beta version, the company focused on improving the stability and performance of the UI. The first beta update was what brought all the major features of the One UI 6 to the smartphones.

Now, as per what has been shared by a moderator, Samsung is planning to close the beta program for the vanilla S23 device by the end of this week, which might suggest that it will end soon for the S23+ and S23 Ultra devices too(assuming). The final inspection is going on and it has been mentioned that if there are any important issues, a new beta version may be issued.
