Galaxy S23 – New ‘DYB2’ One UI 7 Internal Test Build Uploaded on Server

As per what has been shared, Samsung has again updated its Galaxy S23 server replacing the previous ‘DYA6’ test build with a new ‘DYB2’ version test build. It has the firmware version – ‘S918BXXU7DYB2/ S918BOXM7DYB2/ S918BXXU7DYB2’, and the build is same as that of the YB1 and YB2 builds of the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24.

Galaxy S25 Series – LockStar Module in Preparation

For the newly-released Galaxy S25 series users, the Good Lock team has shared that the LockStar app for One UI 7 is currently being prepared and it will be rolled out soon. However, users may have to wait for a while as this time, LockStar has received a major structural change, therefore providing a stable app is taking time.

In related news, Google Maps and Naver Maps (in South Korea) have both received certain updates offering users Now Bar support and features like Live Navigation and Live Activities on One UI 7. Additionally, an Identity Check feature was also rolled out by Google to One UI 7 running devices too recently.

Speaking more, the brand has also teased (via Flipkart) the arrival of a new Galaxy F-series smartphone in India, which could either be the Galaxy F16 5G or the Galaxy F06 5G.

From the previous ‘DXLG’ build, the new ‘DYA2’ One UI 7 build has been updated on the server, with the firmware version of ‘S918NKSU5DYA2/ S918NOKR5DYA2/ S918NKSU5DYA2’. As mentioned, this build version is the same as that of the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 build versions of ‘AYA2’ and ‘BYA2’ respectively.

Speaking more, do keep in mind that the Galaxy S23 series models will also not be receiving any beta updates, and is believed to receive the One UI 7 official stable version directly following its release, likely in the month of February or March 2025.

About the One UI 7 official version, it will be released this month along with the four upcoming Galaxy S25 series flagships ( Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra, & Galaxy S25 Slim) at the much awaited Galaxy Unpacked event which is scheduled to take place on the 22nd of January 2025. To add, apart from the One UI 7 official version and the Galaxy S25 series, the brand is also expected to introduce the Project Moohan XR headset, its new smart glasses, as well as the teaser for the next generation Galaxy Smart Ring.

The new One UI 7 ‘DXLG’ internal test build with build versions – ‘S918BXXU7DXLG/ S918BOXM7DXLG/ S918BXXU7DXLG’, also is similar with that of the Galaxy S24 beta build (ZXLG), further reiterating that there will be no beta program for the Galaxy S23 series.

Speaking of the official stable version, it has already been reported to be introduced with the soon-to-be-unveiled Galaxy S25 series models. Along with the ‘Project Moohan’ XR headset, the brand is believed to release both the Galaxy S25 series devices and the One UI 7 custom skin at the Galaxy Unpacked event, which is said to take place on the 22nd of January 2024, this month.

Galaxy S23 – New One UI 7 Internal Test Build Uploaded on Server

As per the latest update received (via @tarunvats33), a new One UI 7 internal test build for Galaxy S23 has been uploaded on the brand’s official server. From ‘DXL6’, it has been changed to ‘DXLE’. The build versions spotted are ‘S918BXXU7DXLE’, ‘S918BOXM7DXLE’, and ‘S918BXXU7DXLE’.

Notably, this internal build version is the same as that of the Galaxy S24 beta build (‘ZXLE’), and this suggests that the beta program won’t be available to any Galaxy S23 series models as commented by the tipster who has shared the update. Moreover, he adds that the Galaxy S23 series models will likely directly get the One UI 7 stable version, possibly in the month of February or March 2025.

Regarding the One UI 7 official stable version based on the Android 15 operating system, it is expected to be introduced with the Galaxy S25 series smartphones, at the first Galaxy Unpacked event of next year. To add, the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event is believed to be held on the 22nd of January 2025.

Samsung Galaxy S23 – Green Line Issue with November/December 2024 Security Patch Update?

As per what is being reported by Galaxy S23 Indian users on Samsung’s community page and other social media platforms, it is following the November/December 2024 security patch update that the screen line issue has arrived and no kind of physical damage has happened to their respective devices. Even so, Galaxy S23 users in India are denied free screen replacement pointing out that this is not a common problem for the Galaxy smartphone model. However, already many have started complaining and posting how they are facing this issue even after taking good care of the device.

Do note that Samsung is currently having its One Time Free Screen Replacement for certain models until the end of this month, till 31st December 2024. Unfortunately, the Galaxy S23 is not among the eligible list of devices.

There is a hack proposed by a Reddit user, which seems to have worked for a Galaxy S23 user who faced the green line issue post the November 2024 security patch update. After enabling the Developer Mode, visit it and disable both ‘HW overlays’ and ‘Simulate color space’. Then reboot the device and the change can be found. While this hack wouldn’t solve the problem immediately, it does work as reported by the Galaxy S23 user.

However, it should be noted that it isn’t found or listed on the official websites in Korea, US, UK, India, and Poland yet.

Speaking more, the One UI 7.0 beta program for more Galaxy S24 series users will be opened across the world as per what reports reveal, whereas the brand is also said to bring out the next One UI 7.0 beta 2 update too in the coming week. As mentioned above, as of now, only Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra devices are eligible for the beta program, in Korea, Germany, US, UK, India, and Poland. In related news, the ‘ZXKN’ animation will be added to the upcoming One UI 7 beta updates in order to resolve the animation issues in the current beta version.

Samsung, the South Korean tech giant, has brought a price cut down to two of its 2023 flagships in the S23 series. Significant price difference have been made for the models

Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ Price Cut Down

Four models of the series have received this drop in price (two storage variants of each smartphone). The dealer price is what has been reduced by Rs. 10,000, subsequently bringing changes to the list price. The new pricings have already come to effect as of on the 7th of January 2024, and customers can now purchase the respective models with the discounted price points.

For the vanilla Galaxy S23, the 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB models’ dealer prices are now Rs. 63,999(exclusive of GST – Rs. 54,236.44) and Rs. 68,999(exclusive of GST – Rs. 58,473.73) [From Rs. 73,999 and Rs. 78,999], and have list prices of Rs. 64,999(exclusive of GST – Rs. 55,083.90) and Rs. 69,999(exclusive of GST – Rs. 59,321.19).

Coming to the plus model, the Galaxy S23+, the price drop is for the 8GB/256GB and 8GB/512GB models. The dealer prices for the two are currently Rs. 83,999(exclusive of GST – Rs. 71,185.59) and Rs. 93,999(exclusive of GST – Rs. 79,660.17) [Previous dealer prices – Rs. 93,999 and Rs. 1,00,399], with list prices of Rs. 84,999(exclusive of GST – Rs. 72,033.05) and Rs. 94,999(exclusive of GST – Rs. 80,507.63).

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE – Snapdragon Variant Listed on Flipkart

Samsung officially debuted its Galaxy S23 FE device globally on the 4th of October 2023 and was made available in the Indian market both via its official website and on Amazon. In India, the Exynos variant of the device was introduced, which came in 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB storage options priced at Rs. 59,999 and Rs. 64,999 respectively.

The Snapdragon variant of the device was only made available in the US market and was put up for sale starting from the 26th of October 2023. The Snapdragon variant also comes in 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB storage options and is currently listed on the brand’s official US website for $499.99 and $559.99. The carrier-exclusive models are even priced lower at $469.99 and $529.99 respectively.

Now, the Flipkart shopping platform has listed the 8GB/128GB model of the Snapdragon variant in Purple color with a price tag of Rs. 56,500. The device is mentioned as “Sold Out”, however, the pricing seems to be inaccurate. To add, the 8GB/128GB Exynos model is now available on Amazon at its lowest-ever price of Rs. 45,998.

Samsung hasn’t yet officially announced the arrival of the Galaxy S23 FE Snapdragon variant in India, but it is being reported that the model will be released in the coming few days. The promotional banner which reads “The New Epic” has also appeared on Flipkart.

One UI 6 Beta 8 Update for S23 Series

The One UI 6 beta 8 update that is currently being rolled out, is for the brand’s latest flagship devices of the Galaxy S23 series, which includes the vanilla Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphones. The update has been made available to users in India, Poland, Germany, the US, and the UK.

Speaking about the update, just like all the beta updates that were rolled out after One UI 6 beta 1, this One UI 6 beta 8 update also doesn’t bring any new features but simply brings improvements in system stability, enhancements in certain features, and fixes for bugs.

To add, the October 2023 Android security patch will be integrated into the device, with the One UI 6 beta 8 update, and many of the stock apps within the device will get updated to their latest versions, enabling users to experience more new features and improvements of the apps.

Galaxy S23 series smartphone users who are already part of the brand’s One UI 6 beta program will be able to download and install the latest beta update from “Software Update” in the device’s “Settings”. The software update will have a total size of around 500MB.

It has also been advised to download the update over Wi-Fi, as downloading via mobile data may lead to the chances of incurring additional network charges.
