Rahul Tripathi has been sold to Orange army Sunrisers Hyderabad at 8 Crore 50 Lakhs and his base price was 40 lakhs. He has been released by Kolkata Knight Riders at 60 Lakhs.

There was a tremendous battle between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. Continuing with the battle, Sunrisers Hyderabad took interest in him and started putting bids for him.

In February 2017, he was sold by the Rising Pune Supergiant for the 2017 IPL. In January 2018, he was sold by the Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 IPL auction.

He was released by the Rajasthan Royals previously of the 2020 IPL auction. In the 2020 IPL auction, he was sold by the Kolkata Knight Riders previously of the 2020 IPL.
