POCO fans have good news to know. Recently POCO India Country head Himanshu Tandon took his X account to announce that POCO F5 has become the first device in India to get Xiaomi HyperOS. The company has begun to roll out the update to the beta users starting today and will soon be rolled out on a broader basis in the coming days based on feedback from beta users.

With this announcement, Himanshu also wrote that a big announcement is planned for the day after tomorrow. As per Xiaomi’s recent post, the new OS will soon be rolled out for the Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi Pad 6 users in India.

POCO F5 smartphone was launched a year ago in India. It came with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor and 256GB storage. As per the official announcement, the eligible users of POCO F5 will be receiving the OTA update and will be able to experience the new features of Xiaomi HyperOS. As mentioned by the brand Xiaomi HyperOS will be released on batch by batch basis. Not only this the company has also promised that the release plans for its other devices will be announced later.

The recently revealed HyperOS test builds confirm that these two POCO F5 series devices will soon be receiving the HyperOS update.

Speaking about the test builds, the POCO F5 smartphone codenamed “marble_global”(global version), will be receiving the HyperOS update with firmware version – OS1.0.0.1.UMRMIXM. The POCO F5 Pro codenamed “mondrian_global” and “mondrian_eea_global”(global and European versions), will receive the HyperOS update with firmware versions – OS1.0.0.3.UMNMIXM and OS1.0.0.3.UMNEUXM, respectively.

POCO’s F5 series devices are to have their global debut next month on the 9th of May, 2023 and as per reports reveal, only the POCO F5 smartphone will be launched in India. The smartphone will be launched at 5.30 PM in India on the same day of its global launch.

Now regarding the specs, the upcoming POCO F5 smartphone is to arrive equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset and is to run on the Android 13-based MIUI custom user interface for POCO devices.

The upcoming device is expected to feature a 6.67″ OLED display with a full HD+ screen resolution and is likely to have a refresh rate of 120Hz.

Those who have been following the POCO F5 series for a few weeks must be knowing how POCO India teased about this series. Now that POCO India has confirmed the launch date of POCO F5 in India shortly after its processor, some significant information about the other smartphone of this series has come out. We are talking about the POCO F5 Pro which will not be launched at least for now in India as per the reports. This has not yet been confirmed by the company but if we were to follow the POCO India Twitter post, they have not mentioned POCO F5 Pro anywhere. A sale page on Flipkart only shows POCO F5 which is another confirmation hinting at its launch in India.

A tipster named Sudhanshu Ambhore posted an image of a packaged phone in a translucent plastic cover on Twitter asking users to guess the name of the upcoming smartphone. In the post, the features of the smartphone can be seen printed on the package which is something like this “Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, WQHD+ 120 Hz AMOLED DotDisplay, 37W wireless fast charging, 5610 mAh battery and 64 MP triple camera with OIS ”. It received various responses and in a few hours, the tipster revealed the name of the smartphone asked in the previous tweet. This smartphone came out to be POCO F5 Pro as per the tipster.

He has also shared the renders of this smartphone which shows that this smartphone will be launched in White and Black color options. This smartphone will feature a triple camera setup on the rear side of the phone with a 64 MP + 8MP + 2MP camera and a 16 MP front camera. POCO F5 is planned to launch on May 9th in India at 5:30 PM. Regarding the launch date, it was previously rumored to be launched on April 6th, but it turned out to be a false alarm. As per the official information, the company will have an online launch event on Poco’s official website. We believe that when Poco launched only the X5 Pro in India, several users demanded that the X5 should also be launched in India. To address this demand, the Head of Poco India asked the community whether they wanted the launch of the Poco X5 or not. As the majority of the votes were in favor, Himanshu Tandon, Poco India Head, announced that Poco would launch the X5 in India.

The launch of only the Poco F5 is confirmed by the Poco India Head as he tweeted about the Poco F5 only, and didn’t say anything about the Poco F5 Pro.
