Now the company seems to have got into a new problem and that is about the damage to the motherboard. We recently covered this issue that showed the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 10 users who have faced the issue of motherboard damage. The company has yet not come forth to respond on this though a new update has come in this regard. One of the X users Parth Monish Kohli warns OnePlus 9 series (9/9Pro/9R/9RT) or the 10 series (10T/10Pro/10R) users from installing the August update. He says this update can be the reason for the motherboard damage.

⚠️ If you own any OnePlus phone from the 9 series (9/9Pro/9R/9RT) or the 10 series (10T/10Pro/10R), then PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL THE AUGUST UPDATE ⚠️

As per users, this particular update is bricking certain OnePlus devices. In simpler words, their motherboards are getting damaged.… pic.twitter.com/Gf9FD5rFWa

— Parth Monish Kohli (@Pmkphotoworks) August 30, 2024

Here it’s important to mention that when the users who faced this issue went to the service center, they were asked a hefty amount for the repair that has left them disheartened. One of the users Aryan Gupta has shared a screengrab of an email that was sent to one of the affected users by OnePlus. This email says that the company will repair the phone on a chargeable basis as the smartphone is out of warranty. It further mentioned that as a goodwill gesture, they will offer a 30% repair discount, which does not make sense when the company can be somehow responsible for the issue. As of now, several users have raised their voices on several platforms, but the company is yet to respond to it.

Their resolution is either a 30% discount at best (for what is really the brand's fault).

If you don't accept, they'll close your case

This is the email which was sent to one of the affected users who was left with the same issue after August updates.

Not great resolution imo. pic.twitter.com/sAsn9p1Qcj

This all began when an update by the company brought the green line issue to their OnePlus phones. Now once again the company has a problem in front of it and that is related to the dead motherboard of the OnePlus smartphones.

Recently so many OnePlus 9 and 10 series users have reported that their device's motherboard is getting dead and no support is being provided by OnePlus in this regard!

It's really concerning that flagship users are facing these issues and they're left with no solution, while… pic.twitter.com/sHrvHA9kDO

— OnePlus Club (@OnePlusClub) August 24, 2024

Several OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 10 series smartphones have reported this issue on the community platform. One of the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G smartphone users wrote that he was asked “Rs 42,000 to fix it”. A user named Abhishek Rajvanshi wrote that he was using a OnePlus 9 Pro smartphone and when his smartphone stopped functioning because of a dead motherboard he was asked for Rs 27,000 by the service center for the repair of the dead motherboard of this handset. OnePlus Club has compiled the screengrab of these posts and posted them on the X.

The company has yet not said anything about this issue though addressing these issues becomes very important when the brand name is already associated with one of the problems. As of now, users have no option other than paying a hefty amount for the repair though something should come very soon.
