Read more about it below.

One UI 6.0 Beta Program

Four beta updates of the latest Android 14 operating system have been released and the OS had achieved stability with the previous Android 14 beta 3 update. The latest Android 14 beta 4 update doesn’t have any major upgrades or changes apart from a few changes in the user interface. Currently, the Android 14 beta 4 update has been made available to certain Pixel smartphones, tablets, and foldable.

To speak about the changes, the first notable change is the colorful profile pictures that have been introduced for multiple user accounts. There is also a change brought to the lock screen where users won’t have to tap an enter button anymore to unlock the device, but just typing in the PIN would do so. Switching to split screen has also been made simple and users can easily turn to split screen from app shortcuts. For tablets and foldable devices, the widget picker section has also been divided into two columns – one which displays the widgets and the other which states its details. The mute icon in the status bar has also been changed.

Reports now suggest that Samsung might be making the latest One UI 6.0 beta update available to some of its premium smartphones next week via its beta program. The devices that are expected to receive the beta update or those which can be part of the beta program include Samsung’s latest Galaxy S23 series devices, Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 4, upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5, and the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Many other smartphone brands are also working on the next versions of their custom UIs and with Samsung expected to start its One UI 6.0 beta program next week, many other companies might follow Samsung and start their beta programs soon.

To make its devices ready for the One UI 6.0 update which should probably be based on the Android 14 operating, Samsung starts preparing its apps for the latest version of the One UI.

Here’s more about it.

Samsung Preparing its Apps for One UI 6.0

Google has already launched its Android 14 beta update to many smartphones from leading brands and Samsung has started to work on its next One UI version. As a first step to the roll-out of its new One UI 6.0 update, the South Korean-based multinational electronics company has started preparing its apps for the next One UI 6.0 update.

Samsung’s Calculator app is the first to receive the update and as you can see from the image given below, the app has been updated to support the next One UI custom user interface. We can also find that a new unit converter has also been added which can be used to convert between KiB, MiB, GiB, and TiB.

However, it should be noted that many Samsung users are still yet to receive the update and the update has not been rolled out widely. Samsung might be planning to roll it out in a phase-by-phase manner, taking into account any possible bugs that may be hidden in the new update.

It is to be noted that since Samsung has started to prepare its apps for the next UI version, this doesn’t mean that the company will be starting its One UI 6.0 beta program anytime soon. Considering the previous beta programs of the brand’s One UI 5.0 and One UI 4.0 which began in August 2022 and September 2021 respectively, the One UI 6.0 beta program might start around the month of July but, it can only be confirmed with the official announcement from the company’s side.

Read more about it below.

One UI 6.0 Update

Samsung will start working on its next-generation custom user interface, the One UI 6.0 once the Android 14 OS is available for AOSP(Android Open Source Project), and as per what is expected, Google might launch the stable Android 14 for AOSP in July. If this is true, then One UI 6.0’s beta test will likely start in August, and in two months its stable version can be expected.

The One UI 6.0 is expected to bring in both Android and Samsung’s custom UI features and will likely offer more new features and many more customization options. Some of the expected features include bigger fonts with non-linear scaling, satellite connectivity, per-app language preferences, and many more.

Now regarding the first devices that are to receive the update, Samsung usually rolls out its new custom UI first to the newly launched flagship devices and as per that, the newly launched S23 series devices which include the Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, and the S23 Ultra are among the first to receive the update. It will then be rolled out to the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 devices, after which will be rolled out to other older S, Z, and Note series devices.

It might only be after this, Samsung will start rolling the update to its other mid-range and entry-level smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy A34 and the Galaxy A54 might be the first mid-range devices to get the update followed by the others.

Also, check out the Samsung devices that will receive and not be receiving the One UI 6.0 update.
