This means these handsets will not be receiving the next OS update and security patch. In case you are using any of these devices it’s time to switch to the latest smartphone especially if you are concerned about the security of your smartphone. Here it needs to be specified that Mi 11 Lite is the 4G variant that won’t be receiving the update while the rest of the variants will still receive it.

Most of the devices mentioned above were launched two or three years ago. Xiaomi has had a history of launching smartphones with the promise to roll out just two Android updates and three years of security updates. This has also caused a backlash for the company. The company changed this with the launch of the Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro smartphones that came with the promise to get four major Android updates and five years of security patches.

There are several reasons behind smartphone brands stopped releasing updates to old models. One of the reasons is that older hardware may not be able to support the latest software updates. Phone makers make sure to focus more on new models rather than earlier released models. And smartphones may work smoothly for you even if your smartphone stops receiving updates but its may have some security issues as well.
