NASA reported the second Supermoon for this year will last three days long. The moon will come as close to Earth on its perigee distance of 357,264 kilometers. Sources say that it will be the biggest Supermoon of this year and it’s called the Super Buck Moon.

NASA says that the super buck Moon will be visible in the night sky on July 14 at 12:08 AM IST. This Supermoon sighting will be noticed after the iconic Strawberry Moon phenomenon on 14 June 2022.

The space agency says that a supermoon is a cosmic phenomenon that occurs when a full moon coincides with a perigee and comes close to Earth in its elliptic orbit appearing larger than usual.

Reportedly the Supermoon is named Super Buck Moon according to a book series called Old Farmer’s Almanac which contains weather forecasts. The book also states that during the time of supermoons antlers of male deer (buck) turn to full growth mode. Similarly, when supermoons happen it resembles the story of antlers. The way antlers grow and shed each year moon appears larger three to four times a year during a supermoon phenomenon.

NASA says that the first supermoon of this year occurred in June while the last one will take place in August. The next supermoon will probably be seen on 18 September 2024.

NASA has also arranged live streaming of the Super Buck Moon for people who can not be able to watch it from their location.
