A Twitter account named Tom Warren has shed light on Microsoft’s hidden virtue awakening Internet Explorer in its Windows 11 Operating System. Microsoft announced that it would cease support for Internet Explorer on June 15, 2022, words spread like rapid fire, and Internet Explorer was announced officially dead on June 26. The whole world hosted its funeral and Twitter broke into memes with the trending hashtag InternetExplorerShutDown.

No one would have expected the undead to be awakened and now after a month, the verified Twitter handle of Tom Warren explains how Microsoft is still running Internet Explorer and preventing anyone from accessing it. According to reports Microsoft has disabled Internet Explorer in Windows 11 to create the first version of Windows Operating System without an IE. The Windows 11 Operating System is designed in such a way that if anyone tries to access the IE, the Windows will launch Microsoft Edge instead of that.

However, the Senior Editor at The Verge, Tom Warren demonstrate the ways Internet Explorer can run on Windows 11 and it is because of the “ancient” coding in parts of the Operating System. One can search Internet Options in the Start Menu and launcg Control Panel to select Programs tab. Upon selecting the tab anyone can click on “manage add-ons” and then click “Learn more about toolbars and extensions.” This will launch the Internet Explorer into the system and will help to bypass commands forcing into Microsoft Edge. Even on Windows 11 where IE isn’t suppose to be running will run like every Operating System’s nightmere as observed.

Internet Explorer, a web browser developed by Microsoft, has officially been put out to pasture as of June 15, 2022. Microsoft no longer supports the old browser and the program itself is due to be removed from Windows 10 in a future update.

If someone wants to keep using a Microsoft browser, they have to make Microsoft edge their permanent browser.

IE’s days have been numbered for a while now, so most people have likely already been using Edge, Chrome, or Firefox as their default browser.

But at last count, Internet Explorer still had a small slice of the market, which means some individuals and organizations still have to switch to a different browser.

If someone wishes to shift from IE to Edge, they need to import bookmarks and other data. However. Edge still offers an IE mode that enables users to run sites and web-based apps which require Internet Explorer for compatibility reasons.

Microsoft claims that Edge will support IE mode till at least 2029. Ultimately, such sites and apps should be updated to work with more modern web standards. Let’s see how to shift from IE to Edge.

Alternatively, you can import bookmarks and other content directly from IE to Edge without having to generate an HTML file. This option also lets you copy your browsing history, cookies, and other items.

In Edge, click the Favorites icon, click the ellipsis icon, and then select Import Favorites. At the Import browser data window, make sure the dropdown box is set to Microsoft Internet Explorer. Uncheck any content you don’t wish to retain. Click the Import button, and your favorites and other items are copied to Edge.

There’s one possible issue in this process. Your favorites folders and bookmarks may be imported into the Favorites Bar location in Edge, which likely is not where you want them to reside. If that happens, you can easily fix it.

In Edge, click the Favorites icon, select the ellipsis icon, and then click the Open Favorites page. Check the boxes for all the listed folders and individual bookmarks in the Favorites window. To quickly check them all, press Ctrl+A

Next, drag and drop the selected items onto the Other Favorites folder at the bottom of the left pane.

Click the Favorites icon, and you’ll see the imported bookmarks nestled under Other favorites.

Internet Explorer is officially being terminated by Microsoft corporations. This browser has been with us since the beginning of the digitalization era. We learned about the internet with the help of Internet Explorer. It has been with us since our childhood days, helping us complete school projects. Every 90s kids will know the contribution of Internet Explorer to our lives.

Internet Explorer Origin

Internet Explorer was created by Thomas Reardon and it was released as a part of Microsoft Plus for Windows 95. It was a $49.99 software bundle including an ‘Internet Jumpstart Kit’ which is a game called Space Cadet Pinball and some software utilities. In August 1995 Microsoft launched Internet Explorer.

After that Internet Explorer, 1.5 version was released and Microsoft bundled it with Windows NT.

Internet Explorer 2

Its version 2 had notable changes launched a few months later in November 1995. The first version of IE was for Windows 95 and Windows NT while the 2nd version supported older Windows 3.1, and Macintosh System 7.0.1.

This version of IE was furnished with added features from today’s web-like JavaScript, HTTP cookies, SSL, and more. IE’s version 2.1 launched for Mac in 1996 and supported embedding AVI, and QuickTime. AIFF, WAV files, and more added features.

Internet Explorer 3

In 1996 Internet Explorer 3 was released. IE had a competitor named Netscape, a commercial web browser. By this time Microsoft introduced JScript, a version of JavaScript with a similar language.

The bundled software IE3 came with Internet Mail, News, Windows Address Book, Microsoft Comic Chat, RealPlayer, NetMeeting, and Windows Media Players.

Internet Explorer 4

In 1998 Internet Explorer acquired gigabit speeds and bundled up with Windows 98 completely. So, Windows 98 only had only one bundled-up web browser which means people are bound to use it. Windows 98 didn’t have Netscape. And if you were to look for options other than Internet Explorer, you needed to buy Netscape.

The Redmond firm actively stopped Netscape to be bundled with Windows. The United States Justice Department got involved in this monopolization of web browsers by Microsoft in 1999. The court ordered Microsoft must split into two, one company for making Windows and the other company for making software. In 2001 the split up didn’t count.

So, Microsoft went ahead with Internet Explorer 4 introduced in Windows 98 system.

Internet Explorer 5

It was launched by Microsoft in 1999. The browser contained features such as AutoComplete, Hotmail integration, Offline Favorites, the ability to save pages as MHTML, a History Explorer Bar, and a Search Explorer Bar.

The Windows 98 system with IE5 had an Intel 486DX processor with 37MB Random Access Memory. Mac with IE5 contained a PowerPC processor and 8MB RAM.

Internet Explorer 6

It was released in 2001 shortly before Windows XP. IE6 was the last browser to be offered independently of Windows.

Internet Explorer 7

IE7 was released in 2006 pre-installed with Windows Vista. The browser supported per-pixel alpha transparency in PNG along with Phishing Filter. It had an advanced browsing security mechanism that will evolve into a cybersecurity platform.

Internet Explorer 8

Introduced in 2009 and pre-installed on Windows-7. IE7 is also supported on Windows XP SP2. This is the first version of Internet Explorer with an InPrivate browsing experience which has evolved as Incognito Mode in Chrome browsers. The browser also had a SmartScreen Filter that checked threat actors.

Internet Explorer 9, 10 and 11

They marked the era of modern browsers. During this time Internet Explorer had tough competitors such as Chrome, Google Chromium, and Mozilla Firefox. Microsoft itself has brought many changes to Windows as well.

Why IE is being terminated?

The company stated that IE couldn’t match with the general improvements to the web. In today’s digital age Microsoft Edge is best fitted to be a more secure and speedy browser.

Internet Explorer had its days at the prime time of the digital era. It defined a golden era of the Internet.

Internet Explorer, the popular age-old web browser from Microsoft has been terminated completely. The software program was 27 years old and has officially died.

Microsoft has debuted Internet Explorer in 1995 and its main competitor was Netscape Navigator, the first commercial browser for the nascent World Wide Wed launched in 1994.

Microsoft Edge Enterprise’s GM Sean Lyndersay said that Internet Explorer’s contribution to the evolution of the web “have been remarkable, from helping to make the web truly interactive with DHTML and AJAX to hardware-accelerated graphics to innovations in touch/pen browsing.”

According to reports, Google’s Chrome is now a leading web browser with shares of 65% followed by Apple Safari at 19%. Microsoft Edge holds a share of about 4% in the market.

Sources say that in the next few months Internet Explorer will be redirected to download Microsoft Edge. If users see the old Internet Explorer icon on the desktop upon clicking it will redirect to open Microsoft Edge. Lyndersay said, “IE will be disabled permanently as part of a future Windows Update, at which point the Internet Explorer icons on users’ devices will be removed.”

Twitter is flooded with memes as soon as the news broke that Internet Explorer will officially be dead from now on. Netizens are finally bidding both respectful and funny goodbye to the age-old browser paving the way for others to come in the field of browsing history.

Internet Explorer 11 all set to bid goodbye to Microsoft’s popular web conferencing service, Teams since it would stop working, from today, November 30.

Earlier this year Microsoft had announced this change as a part of the company’s push to get the users using Microsoft Teams on Internet Explorer to move on to using Edge. Therefore, if you have been using Microsoft Teams on Internet Explorer so far, you will have to move to the Microsoft Edge browser to be able to continue to use the service.

Also, as per reports, by August 17 of next year, the Microsoft 365 services will no longer work on Internet Explorer 11. Therefore this “veteran” browser from the house of Microsoft would not only loose Microsoft Teams but also lose the access to Microsoft 365 services. From March 9 next year the legacy version of Microsoft Edge will also reach its end of support.

Earlier this year Microsoft announced all these changes via a blog post where the company had said that it wouldn’t scrap Internet Explorer 11 but the amount of mileage the user can get from the browser is going to be reduced greatly. Also, since the legacy version of Microsoft Edge is nearing its end of support, it would be an obvious fact that Microsoft is now going to focus entirely on the Chromium-powered version of Microsoft Edge instead.

The Microsoft Teams web app will no longer support IE 11 from November 30 2020 and the remaining Microsoft 365 apps and services will no longer support IE 11 from August 17 2021, Microsoft said in its blog post.

“While we know this change will be difficult for some customers, we believe that customers will get the most out of Microsoft 365 when using the new Microsoft Edge. We are committed to helping make this transition as smooth as possible,” the company explained.

Its finally over for internet explorer and Microsoft has made it official that they are ending the Internet explorer. The inheritance form of Microsoft Edge, the organization’s cutting edge program, is additionally going to be a loss. The Tech Outlook presents a past filled with the war of the web.

How did Internet Explorer gain popularity?

The account of Internet Explorer (IE) really covers the main genuine antitrust fight looked by Big Tech. At the point when IE was propelled in 1995, the organization authorized the code used to make Netscape Navigator, the then predominant program. It utilized this to fabricate IE and packaged it with Windows, though Netscape had a $49 sticker price on it. This is the essential motivation behind why internet browsers today are consistently accessible for nothing. It drove the US Department of Justice to dispatch an antitrust examination concerning Microsoft and the adjudicator in the long run requested the organization to be separated, and said that giving IE for nothing was in reality hostile to serious conduct.

What happened to Microsoft at that point?

While Microsoft effectively advanced the decision, it prompted exacting limitations being forced on the organization. Among these was a decision that Microsoft could never again be engaged with restrictive dealings with PC makers and programming designers. It constrained the organization to open the Windows source code, through application programming interfaces (APIs) to different designers, so they could assemble a product that would chip away at Windows. It basically removed a colossal piece of Microsoft’s authority over the PC environment, which was the main “savvy” biological system at that point and began IE’s destruction as it were.

How did IE lose predominance on the World Wide Web?

In spite of the antitrust fight, by 2004, IE had 90% of the program advertise on PCs. Then, Firefox started making swells. At that point Google propelled Chrome in 2008 and overwhelmed the program wars. In the following 5 years, Google assumed control over the program market and IE had under 30% offer by 2013. Today, that piece of the overall industry is 1%. Starting at July, IE and Edge had a complete portion of 9%.

For what reason is IE pivotal throughout the entire existence of the web?

At its pinnacle, Windows was the go to working framework for individuals utilizing PCs, and Internet Explorer was their entryway to the web. In nations like India, with first time clients, many didn’t make the IE-Microsoft relationship. Much the same as many use Google as an equivalent word for the web today, IE was the equivalent word in the last part of the 90s and mid 2000s. The idea of ‘applications’ hadn’t showed up and all that you required from the web must be gotten to with a program. The multiplication of cell phones changed the entirety of that.

What’s available for Internet Explorer?

This is successfully the finish of life for the once-prevailing internet browser. From November 30, the Microsoft Teams web application will quit dealing with IE11, the most recent rendition of the program. Come August 17, 2021, the organization’s Microsoft 365 administrations, similar to Outlook, OneDrive and that’s just the beginning, will quit associating with IE11 as well. Microsoft said it would signify “debased understanding” for clients and that specific highlights may stop to work while getting to applications and administrations utilizing IE11. Microsoft is requesting that clients move to Edge, which has worked in IE mode.
