The California-based tech company, Google, has already unveiled a lot of new features for its Pixel devices and very recently a new colorway was also introduced for the latest Pixel 8 series smartphones. The brand via its official Twitter/X handle has now teased the new updates.

Google – New Pixel Features and Updates Teased

One of the notable and recently unveiled Pixel features is the Circle to Search which was introduced just a few days back. This will enable users to easily search for anything just by circling, highlighting, scribbling, or tapping on it. The feature will officially be coming to premium Android devices on the 31st of January 2024.

The latest medical-grade feature in the thermometer app of the Pixel 8 Pro smartphone is also a new update, and this will allow its users to easily measure body temperature. The results can also be saved to the user’s Fitbit profile as well.

Photomoji and Magic Compose in Google Messages are two productivity features that have been revealed. The Photomoji feature will make users capable of making a reaction emoji based on the photos in their gallery, whereas the Magic Compose feature helps in rewriting a drafted reply or comment in different styles with generative AI. These two will however be available only on Pixel 6 series and later devices.

The Quick Share feature is another feature that offers users much better convenience in sharing files between two devices, even while offline. Adding an extra layer of security, users can also select who can discover their device, be it everyone, the ones in contact, or their own other devices.

Along with these exciting new features, the brand as mentioned had also unveiled a new color choice for its Pixel 8 series smartphones too – the New Mint colorway. It is currently on sale, but only for a limited period of time.

Google via its official Twitter/X handle(@madebygoogle) has again teased the new Minty Fresh colorway of the Pixel 8 series with the tagline “A wave of freshness is heading your way”. A Google Store link has also been added which will take users to the landing page of the new color variant with a countdown. As already known, the Minty Fresh color variant of the Pixel 8 series will be unveiled on the 25th of January 2024.

To add, and as mentioned earlier, on the same day, the brand will be collaborating with “@itsaliving” who will be painting a special mural in downtown NYC. The event can be witnessed in-person or fans may watch the live stream via YouTube at 11 AM EST.

The Twitter/X post shared features a binary sequence that reads “Fresh year, fresh drop”, along with a link directing to Google Store and a teaser video. The video primarily consists of one of the Pixel 8 series teaser images on which “itsaliving” is being written in Mint Green color.

In related news, Google is conducting a special mural painting event in downtown NYC with the painter who goes by the name @itsaliving. The day of the mural painting event is the same day on which Google plans to release the new colorway, and the video featured in the post mentions it too. Both will take place on the 25th of January 2024.

Google’s Pixel 8 series was launched and made available in the month of October 2023, last year, and the series comprises two smartphone devices, as of now, and a third model is expected to debut this year, in 2024. It’s still not sure whether both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, or just the Pixel 8 Pro will get the new Minty Fresh color variant, and we’ll have to wait until next week to confirm it.

To add, very recently Google had also introduced a “Circle to Search” feature which will enable users to search for anything just by circling, highlighting, scribbling, or tapping on it. This feature is arriving on all premium Android devices, including the Pixel 8 series and the latest Galaxy S24 series, on the 31st of January 2024.

Pixel 8 – Display P3 Capture Support

Speaking about Display P3, it is a wide color gamut that is being used mostly and extensively in mobile devices. With Display P3, a larger color space of 25% is offered when compared to sRGB, with much more richly saturated red and green colors.

As per what has been revealed now, Google’s latest Pixel 8 smartphone will be able capture Display P3 supported images and this is a new capability that has been introduced in the Android 14 operating system. It will be able to capture wide gamut color images in JPEG format itself, without the need of using 10-bit HDR

To note, in the settings of Google’s Camera app in the Pixel 8 smartphone, there is also an option to disable wide gamut capture, however, the Ultra HDR capture will remain enabled always.

The latest Pixel devices – the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro smartphones, will be unveiled tomorrow globally and just a day ahead of its launch, the two upcoming devices have been spotted on the Geekbench database.

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro – Geekbench Listing

On the Geekbench database, the Pixel 8 smartphone has received a single-core score of 1,563 points and a multi-core score of 4,159 points, whereas the Pixel 8 Pro device has attained a single-core score of 1,760 points and a multi-core score of 4,442 points.

Their listing also confirms that the two upcoming smartphones will arrive pre-installed with the Android 14 operating system and will have motherboards codenamed – shiba and Husky, respectively. We are already aware that the Pixel 8 series devices that will be debuting tomorrow will come equipped with the Tensor G3 chipset, and the database reveals the chipset’s core configuration.

The chipset will have a total of nine cores with a configuration of 1+4+4 cores. The primary core has a clock speed of 2.91 GHz, and the performance and efficiency cores will run at clock speeds of 2.37 GHz and 1.70 GHz, respectively.

To add, previously the third smartphone of the Pixel 8 series, the Pixel 8a, which will only be launching in a later period, was also spotted on the Geekbench database, and it featured this same chipset.

Google is all set to officially launch it’s much-awaited Pixel 8 series on October 4. The series will be including two smartphones- Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro and we have already come across a lot of information and updates about this upcoming series in recent days. The series will be made available for purchase via Flipkart.

Previously, it was announced that the pre-orders for this series would start on October 5 but now the pre-order date has been shifted. Google has today officially confirmed the pre-order date of its Pixel 8 series on the Flipkart page.

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro pre-orders will start on the same day as that of its launch. The consumer can pre-order their preferred Pixel device from October 4 at 9:30 PM onwards. The pricing details of the Indian market are not known yet but previously the specs of this series and pricing for the global market did leak online.

Google Pixel 8 series: Specifications

Both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones will be powered by the Tensor G3 processor and are equipped with the Titan M2 chip. The vanilla Pixel 8 will have RAM of 8GB and up to 256GB of storage while the Pixel 8 Pro, will be offering 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The two devices will also have displays supporting varying refresh rates. The Pixel 8 Pro will support 1Hz-120Hz refresh rate, while the Pixel 8 has a varying refresh rate support of 60Hz-120Hz.

For the cameras, the Pixel 8 will have a dual camera setup, whereas the Pixel 8 Pro will have a triple camera unit. The vanilla Pixel 8 smartphone will house a main camera of 50MP and an ultrawide angle lens of 12MP with macro capability. The Pixel 8 Pro will be featuring a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultrawide angle camera(with macro focus), and a 48MP telephoto camera(5x zoom). A front-facing camera of 10.5MP will also be present on both devices.

the vanilla Pixel 8 smartphone is expected to pack a 4,485 mAh battery, whereas the Pixel 8 Pro smartphone might be backed by a 4,950 mAh battery. The two are also likely to support 24W and 27W fast charge features, respectively. The Pixel 8 smartphone from its WPC certification is also confirmed to support a 12W wireless charging feature too.

Google Pixel 8 series: Pricing

In the European market, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones will start at price points of €874.25 and €1,235.72, respectively. The two devices in the United States will be launched with starting prices of $699 and $899, respectively. The Pixel 8 smartphone will be available in Peony Rose, Hazel – Grey, Obsidian – Black, and mint colors, and the Pixel 8 Pro will have Porcelain, Bay – bay-sky blue, Obsidian – Black, and mint color choices.

Pixel 8 Smartphone – Retail Box Leaked

The retail box of the Pixel 8 smartphone that has surfaced online features the right-side panel – rear panel view of the Pixel 8 smartphone, and as previously confirmed, we get to see the elongated rectangular camera module with a pill-shaped inner module housing two of its cameras and also an LED flashlight at the right.

At the back of the box, we can also find some of the details regarding the smartphone as well. It has been mentioned that the Pixel 8 smartphone will support 5G Sub-6 connectivity and will feature a 6.2″ display screen. To add, this is the retail box of the 128GB storage variant of the device in Hazel color with a model number – G9BQD. The box also reveals that the smartphone will come with a charging cable and a Quick Switch adapter.

Apart from this, nothing much in particular has been revealed via its retail box. However, the recently listed product page of the device has revealed a lot about its specs.

The Pixel 8 smartphone will be having a 6.2″ Actua display with a 120Hz refresh rate and will be powered by the Tensor G3 chipset. It will be sporting a 50MP(main) + 12MP(ultrawide) dual camera setup and will support camera features like 4K video recording, 8x Super Res Zoom, Photo Unblur, Magic Eraser, Best Take, and Macro Focus. A 10.5MP front cam is also present. Other features include a fast-charging 24-hour battery, face & fingerprint unlock, and an IP68 dust and water-resistant body.

The Pixel 8 series will debut globally on the 4th of October 2023, this month, and after its launch, the specifications and the features of the two devices will be officially revealed.
