On Sunday, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) held their nerve to defeat the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 6 runs in the gripping 45th match of the IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After setting a difficult 196 to win, LSG defeated DC at 189/7 to earn their seventh win in ten games and move into second place in the standings.

Mohsin Khan took 4/16 for LSG. Earlier in the day, LSG captain and opener KL Rahul continued his great form with a 77, while Deepak Hooda also hit a half-century – 52 off 34 – to assist his team to a massive 195/3 against Delhi Capitals. Only Shardul Thakur, who took all three wickets, was able to put his name in the wickets column as the DC bowlers were off-color, conceding plenty of boundaries.

Rahul chose to bat first and made one change to his XI, benching fast bowler Avesh Khan and replacing him with allrounder Krishnappa Gowtham. DC, on the other hand, has remained untouched. LSG is on a two-game winning streak and will aim for a hat-trick of victories. DC comes into this match on the heels of a convincing victory over Kolkata Knight Riders.

Yash Dhull, the captain of India’s U19 World Cup winning team, was picked up by the Delhi Capitals at the IPL mega auction. DC acquired Yash Dhull for Rs 50 lakh because he appeared to be a promising batter prior to the IPL season. Dhull’s base price of Rs 20 lakhs also put him on the radar of Punjab Kings, but DC were keen to sign him.

Dhull’s selection for DC was not a surprise to many fans since he has been training at the Delhi Capitals Academy at Bal Bhawan (Dwarka) since 2014-15. In the end, the Delhi Capitals did not let the local lad fall into the wrong hands and included him in the squad.
The new DC jersey was presented to cricketers from the Delhi Capitals Academy and Prestige Warriors, an NGO providing free cricket coaching to underprivileged children, at one of the DC Academies in New Delhi on Saturday (March 12).

Children from DC Cricket Academy and Prestige Warriors also played a friendly match of cricket while wearing the jerseys that will be worn by Delhi Capitals players during the TATA IPL 2022 season. The cricketers were divided into two teams for the 10-over match, Delhi and Capitals. The Capitals won by 22 runs.

The Delhi Capitals will open their season against the Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne Stadium on the 27th of March.

By March 14-15, the ten franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season are set to begin training. The Maharashtra government met with BCCI Acting CEO Hemang Amin earlier today, with important members of the Mumbai Cricket Association also in attendance. Aaditya Thackeray and Eknath Shinde were among those who attended the meeting with MCA officials and Amin. ‘Teams will most likely begin practicing around March 14-15. Players and support staff will begin arriving in Mumbai in March for the IPL,’ sources close to the situation informed ANI. “Before entering their separate bubbles, volunteers who will be part of the bubble will be quarantined for 3-5 days.”

All participants will be tested for RT-PCR 48 hours prior to their scheduled flight from their home location to Mumbai. They will be tested three times in-room RT-PCR tests while in quarantine, the first on day 1, the second on day 3, and the third on day 5. If they are quarantined for three days, they will be tested every day. They will be allowed to leave quarantine and resume team activities if all three test results are negative,’ the source stated. The BCCI has approved five venues for the training of all ten teams, including MCA Ground in Thane and Reliance Corporate Park in Navi Mumbai.

The teams will compete in matches at four different venues in Mumbai and Pune, as well as practice sessions at other facilities. To keep the bio bubbles intact, a green corridor will need to be built for their mobility. For all participants in the bubble, BCCI will follow the biosecure movement’s protocols,’ according to the source. “It will be ideal to have a safe passage and seamless movement during the voyage to Navi Mumbai and Pune to prevent delays.” If a team member tests positive for COVID-19, they will most likely be placed in quarantine in the hotel, and special arrangements will be made for them, according to the source.

The IPL 2022 season will take place between March 26 and May 29. In Mumbai and Pune, a total of 70 league matches will be contested over four international grade stadiums. The location of the playoff games will be determined later. There will be 12 matches/days for doubleheaders, which is unusual.
Wankhede Stadium will host 20 matches, while Brabourne Stadium will host 15 matches (CCI). Twenty matches will be held at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium, while 15 will be held at Pune’s MCA International Stadium. Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, and Lucknow Super Giants are the teams that makeup Group A. Chennai Super Kings, Sunrises Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans will compete in Group B.
