Java

Python

There are a few more but here we are going to detail about, “how commanding over these two great programming languages may land you to your dream job, even if you aim for Big Tech”.

No doubt in saying that IT companies are paying very well to their employees as compared to other professions where employees are not paid enough according to the efforts they made or how much they sweat. But there lies a myth that only Engineers are able to join these IT professions like developer, database administrator, data scientist, etc. Anyone with knowledge of programming language, where Java and Python are the widely used industrial programming language can aim for these IT posts.

As Java and Python are dominating in IT industries, let’s talk about in detail one by one-

JAVA-

The wide application of java makes it a versatile programming language for many years. Java application extends from Mobile Application, Desktop GUI, Web-based application to server-based application.

Java is used in different fields like- Science, Enterprise, Gaming, Big Data, Cloud-based, Distributed systems.

You can find Java on over 3 billion devices! according to Oracle.

Major characteristics of Java that makes it most popular-

platform-independent – can work on different platforms like Windows, Mac, Linux, etc

object-oriented – allows code reusability and clear programming structure follows OOPs

simplicity – easy to learn and code

concurrency – allows multiple statements to execute simultaneously

security- java is secure and fast

open-source – free language with the wide community to support

Java is used by almost all IT companies, few giants are – Google, Airbnb, Amazon, Spotify, Netflix, Uber, Pinterest,

Python-

The popular and most fascinating programming language in terms of its syntax is Python. The major factor that there is huge acceptability of Python is because of its simple programming syntax than other programming languages that have tough syntax. It is called “developer-friendly language”.

Python is a trending language as it suites with all current and future technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Data Analytics, Data visualization, Business Intelligence, SEO, design, Game development, etc.

Major characteristics of Python that makes it an ideal programming language-

easy – as compared to most of the coding languages

simple syntax – more like English, easy to read and understand

object-oriented – allows code reusability and clear programming structure follows OOPs

interpreted – easier to debug

platform-independent – can work on different platforms like Windows, Mac, Linux, etc

GUI support – Graphical User Interface can be made through different modules of Python

open-source – free language with the wide community to support

libraries – Python has a large set of libraries for different functionalities that reduces code complexity

dynamic nature – Python is a dynamically-typed language

NASA, IBM, Google, Netflix, Spotify, Pixar, Facebook, JP Morgan Chase, Intel, and countless more all use the language to help power their services. Python is among one of the 4 major languages at Google and also Google’s youtube is majorly coded on Python.

Confused which to choose between Java and Python?

These key differences may help you-

Java is compiled whereas Python is interpreted- that means error checking or debugging in python is simple.

Java is statically typed whereas python is dynamically typed – again its easier to go with python

Java has complex learning curve than Python

Java offers more security than Python

Java is preferred for Desktop GUI apps, Embed Systems, Web application services, etc whereas Python is used for scientific and mathematical systems, Machine learning, etc.

Many viruses are harmful and can destroy data, slow down system resources, and log keystrokes. Let’s take a look at some of the deadliest ones yet.

ILOVEYOU

The ILOVEYOU virus sometimes referred to as the Love Bug or Love Letter for you, is a computer worm that infected over ten million Windows personal computers on and after 4 May 2000 when it started spreading as an email message with the subject line “ILOVEYOU” and the attachment “LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.txt.vbs”. It originated in Manila, the Philippines. It resulted in the loss of every JPEG, MP3 and text file in the computer. It badly affected the Ford Motor Company and their email had to be shut down.

2. MyDoom

Mydoom is also known as W32.MyDoom@mm, Novarg, Mimail.R and Shimgapi, is a computer worm affecting Microsoft Windows. It was first sighted on January 26, 2004. The worm contains the text message “andy; I’m just doing my job, nothing personal, sorry,” leading many to believe that the worm’s creator was paid. Early on, several security firms expressed their belief that the worm originated from a programmer in Russia. The actual author of the worm is unknown.

3. Code Red

Code Red was a computer worm observed on the Internet on July 15, 2001. It attacked computers running Microsoft’s IIS web server. It was the first large scale, mixed threat attack to successfully target enterprise networks. They named it “Code Red” because Code Red Mountain Dew was what they were drinking at the time. It contains the text string “Hacked by Chinese!”, which is displayed on web pages that the worm defaces.

4. SQL Scammer

SQL Slammer is a 2003 computer worm that caused a denial of service on some Internet hosts and dramatically slowed general Internet traffic. It spread rapidly, infecting most of its 75,000 victims within ten minutes. The slowdown was caused by the collapse of numerous routers under the burden of extremely high bombardment traffic from infected servers.

5. Anna Kournikova

Anna Kournikova was a computer worm that spread on the Internet worldwide. It was devised by a 20-year-old Dutch student Jan de Wit – who called himself “OnTheFly” – on 11 February 2001. It was designed to trick email users into clicking to open a mail message file appearing to provide an image of the professional tennis player of the same name, while actually hiding a malicious program.

Speaking at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) computer game convention in Los Angeles earlier this month, Musk explored the effect video games had on his vision and the careers of engineers around the world.

“Part of the reason, maybe the reason, I got interested in tech was video games,” Musk said. He also said that he definitely wouldn’t have started programming if it weren’t for video games, or if it weren’t for video games, he wouldn’t have been as interested in computers and technology. He thinks video games are a very strong force to get young kids involved in technology; they have a far bigger knock-on impact than people would know.

Musk is speaking from experience. At just 12 years old, he programmed and released a space combat game called “Blastar,” which was later sold for $500 to the PC and Workplace Technology Journal. He used to work at a gaming startup. And while his more recent birthdays may have been spent pulling all-nighters to Tesla, Musk once celebrated his birthday by calling for a life-size statue of Vault Boy – a fictional mascot character from the Fallout video game.

But Musk is not the only one who has sought motivation – and achievement – by games. The connection between the two is evident as he interviews his potential staff.

Musk said : “If we’re interviewing somebody for a software engineering role at Tesla or SpaceX, many times we’ll [ask], ‘How’d you start programming?’”

I believe many of the greatest software developers in the world are at or have spent a lot of their career at, video game houses,” Musk says, stressing how problem-solving in video games transfers to problem-solving in software engineering.

For the Tesla Musk team, improved graphics in video games allow them to properly simulate self-driving vehicles with the aid of artificial intelligence. He’s working with his simulation team to create a photo-realistic world of what he claims are some of the most boring things: asphalt skid marks, concrete curves, shadows, and faded street lines. These simulations were critical to the creation of autopilot vehicles, which are expected to be completely rolled out next year.

He also credited the Cyberpunk video game as an inspiration to the Tesla pickup truck.

Musk wasn’t just at E3 boasting about his new pickup truck. He revealed the inclusion of video games to Tesla vehicles—drivers will play games on the car’s center screen when docking at the charging station. He also hinted at designing games for his space capsules on his way to Mars.
