Direct INR support has also been brought by the platform in the country. Indian customers will now be able to deposit and withdraw INR via IMPS as part of it.

Read more about it below.

Coinbase Now Fully Accessible for Indian Retail Traders With Direct INR Support

As reported, Coinbase has made its full services accessible for Indian retail traders, and this has brought direct INR support in the country. With this, Indian customers will now be able to deposit and withdraw INR via IMPS, without having to rely on P2P rails or intermediaries.

Speaking more, Indian customers will also be getting access to spot trading across a range of assets, along with perpetual futures contracts covering major crypto assets. Local INR order books have also been built by Coinbase to provide dedicated liquidity for Indian customers, while continued access to its global exchange will also be offered.

For customers who need advanced functionality, Coinbase Advanced has been introduced with professional-grade tools, including APIs built to institutional standards, WebSocket order book streaming, and a full range of order types. To add, TradingView charting has also been integrated for customers who prefer a discretionary approach.

About fees and execution, taker fees on Coinbase Advanced are mentioned to be competitive when benchmarked against local platforms, and there are no deposit fees on INR. Execution quality has also been pointed out to matter, especially for higher-volume traders, and deep global liquidity may help in tighter spreads and lower slippage when compared to thinner local order books.

As of now, users can deposit INR from their bank account via IMPS, trade on spot or futures markets, and withdraw INR back to their bank when required. Existing Coinbase users will be receiving INR support as part of the current rollout, whereas new users can create an account via Coinbase’s official website.

Stay tuned for more updates.

According to a report, Coinbase traded cryptocurrencies using company funds. Coinbase created the Risk Solutions Unit last year with the intention of bringing in money for the company. Four Wall Street traders were hired by Coinbase, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Those in the know refer to the team’s speculation in bitcoin as “proprietary trading,” and the team is alleged to have done so utilizing the company’s resources. The paper also describes how Coinbase’s Risk Solutions Unit was created with the intention of trading bitcoins for its customers while simultaneously offering tools and rules for preventing conflicts of interest.

Before concentrating on creating intricate financial tools to expedite commercial operations, the team started trading using company funds. The group allegedly invested in and traded cryptocurrency using corporate profits in order to steadily enhance their wealth. Additionally, Coinbase completed a test trade offer for $100 million using the recently developed method.

On the other hand, Coinbase has responded with a variety of remarks that suggest the business very briefly considered looking into proprietary trading before abandoning the idea. During testimony before Congress, Alesia Haas, a spokesperson for Coinbase, claimed that the firm had never thought about engaging in proprietary trading.
In addition, Coinbase occasionally purchases cryptocurrencies “as principal,” including for its corporate treasury and operational needs, but the company does not view these purchases as proprietary trading because “Coinbase does not stand to gain from gains in the value of the cryptocurrency being traded.” In 2010, laws were passed that made it illegal for banks and other financial organizations to look into speculative businesses. Due to the speculative market’s unpredictable character and inconsistent market velocity, these laws were created to prevent financial institutions from participating in it.

The involvement of institutions in speculative cryptocurrency businesses, according to regulators, might lead to a number of risks and a possible conflict of interest that, in the long run, could harm investors and consumers.

This also comes off as a happy moment for crypto, as the market saw a devastating crash of about $1 trillion in the industry. This also led some prominent crypto companies into bankruptcy.

Danny Ryan, a researcher at Ethereum stated while celebrating with a colleague that it was going as well as it could go so far.

However, crypto users were anticipating possible glitches in the development. Any flaw in Merge was meant to harm a broad crypto industry. Coinbase, announced in the month of August that they planned on pausing some Ethereum deposits and withdrawals during the Merge, as they did not want any complications.

Federal authorities announced the unsealing of an indictment in a federal court in Manhattan as they detained the brothers Ishan and Nikhil Wahi and released Sameer Ramani, a man from Houston, on the run.

According to the authorities, Nikhil Wahi, 26, and his friend Ramani, 33, received advice from Ishan Wahi, 32, a product manager at Coinbase Global Inc., one of the biggest bitcoin exchanges in the world with headquarters in Seattle. Wire fraud and wire fraud conspiracy were alleged against all three.

Ishan Wahi was allegedly detained by law enforcement before boarding an aircraft on May 16 bound for India and prohibited from leaving the country, according to the indictment. He had called and texted his brother and Ramani in the hours prior to the flight to inform them of an investigation Coinbase was conducting, according to a release.

After consenting to be questioned by Coinbase for an internal investigation, Ishan Wahi purchased a one-way plane ticket to India in a “unsuccessful attempt to depart the United States,” according to the indictment.

According to U.S. Attorney Damian Williams, this is the government’s first instance of insider trading involving cryptocurrency marketplaces. It serves as a reminder that the cryptocurrency markets are subject to laws, according to him.

The defendants traded at least 25 different crypto assets to earn nearly $1.5 million in ill-gotten gains, according to Michael Driscoll, chief of the FBI’s New York office.

Ishan Wahi’s attorneys claimed in an email to The Associated Press that their client “intends to defend himself forcefully against these claims and in the SEC case” and that he is innocent.

Other defence attorneys were contacted for comments via messages. The men were charged in federal court in Seattle with civil insider trading by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The allegations against the group, according to the SEC, were brought after they engaged in a plan to trade ahead of many announcements regarding certain crypto assets that were going the ability to trade them on the Coinbase platform.

Carolyn M. Welshhans, Acting Chief of the Enforcement Division’s Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit, said, “As today’s prosecution indicates, whether in equities, options, crypto assets, or other securities, we will uncover and combat insider trading in securities wherever we see it.”

Ishan Wahi reportedly started working as a product manager for the asset listing team in October 2020, according to the New York indictment. From June 2021 to this past April, he allegedly gave his brother and a buddy advice concerning sensitive material.

The company’s CEO, Brian Armstrong, stated on Twitter and in a blog post on Thursday that an internal investigation into “potential frontrunning of assets soon before being listed on Coinbase” had started in April.

According to the indictment, the frontrunning was made known to the public through a tweet made in April on a Twitter account with “hundreds of thousands of followers in the crypto world.”

According to Armstrong, the business gathered enough proof before firing Ishan Wahi and sending its information on the three men to the Justice Department. “We will investigate bad actors and report them to law enforcement. They will face serious legal penalties, including serving time in prison,” he continued.

The business stated on Tuesday that its staking service, which allows users to lock up assets to support proof-of-stake (PoS) networks, allows users to earn up to an 18 per cent annual percentage yield (APY) on specific currencies.

Moreover, Audius (AUDIO), Avalanche (AVAX), BNB Chain, Cosmos (ATOM), Livepeer (LPT), Solana (SOL), and The Graph are among the Binance.US’s PoS blockchains supporters (GRT). According to Binance.US, more coins will be introduced in the near future. The staking of crypto tokens is made easier by large exchanges, which take a cut of the coins’ yield. The goal, according to Binance.US CEO Brian Shroder, is to outperform staking APYs on platforms like Coinbase and Gemini. Shroder claims that staking Cosmos blockchain’s ATOM token will earn a 12.2 per cent APY on Binance.US, but the Livepeer token, with a smaller market size, might offer up to an 18% dividend on LPT.

As per the sources, we also came to know that the Binance.US, although projections of coming crypto winter, they appear to be in fine shape; Shroder claims the firm does have plenty of dry powder to explore acquisitions in the future. In contrast to the gloomy job news coming out of Coinbase and Gemini, he used the opportunity to point out that his company is hiring.

Furthermore, Shroder also added that they’re adding people from Coinbase and Gemini to their team. Those firms have a lot of talent applying for our open positions, and they are actively interviewing them. Coinbase declared a recruiting freeze last week, stating that it will retract employment offers to applicants who had already accepted positions at the exchange. Meanwhile, Gemini said that 10% of its workforce would be laid off.

Chief people officer L.J. Brook has announced that Coinbase has stopped hiring new employees and discontinued several job offers made by the company. They have said, “Current market conditions and ongoing business prioritization efforts,” are the reason for their sudden decision.

Coinbase is a powerful crypto-economy-based financial system. Several customers have discovered the world of crypto through Coinbase. However, a current downtrend in the cryptocurrency market left the company immobile. Coinbase started very slow hiring efforts in mid-May but now they have stopped completely.

Coinbase also launched the social NFT marketplace in May. On the first 19 days of its launch, the gross sales amounted to 875,000 Dollars but it gradually declined to 46,000 Dollars per day, according to data from Bune Analytics.

The NFT sales are also declining and retreating to 19,000 sales per week at the beginning of May, in opposite to the 225,000 NFT sales in September 2021.

The gradual change at Coinbase has left several employees struggling.

Coinbase planned to hire 2,000 employees in 2022 for foreseeing enormous future product opportunities. They even hired two individuals but expressed the market conditions in the mail, which left them confused and frustrated.

However, the condition in the cryptocurrency market left the company with a hiring freeze while other companies remain in the blockchain.

Some of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges are remaining in Russia, defying conventional finance in a move that analysts believe hurts Western efforts to isolate Moscow in the aftermath of the invasion of Ukraine.

In a series of tweets on Friday, Coinbase Chief Executive Officer Brian Armstrong stated, “We believe everyone deserves access to basic financial services unless the law states differently.”

In an emailed response to Reuters, a representative for Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, stated, “We are not going to unilaterally suspend millions of innocent consumers’ accounts.”

Both bitcoin exchanges have declared they will comply with government sanctions.

The announcements come days after Coinbase and Binance stated they would not freeze all Russian accounts in response to Ukraine’s request for a blanket ban from major crypto exchanges.

For invading Ukraine, Western countries like as the United States and the United Kingdom have placed extensive financial penalties on Russia, including the exclusion of major Russian institutions from the SWIFT international payments system. Russia’s efforts in Ukraine are referred to as a “special operation.”

Since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the greatest attack on a European state since World War Two last Thursday, tens of thousands of people are thought to have been dead or injured, and over one million refugees have fled Ukraine.

At least 6,000 Coinbase Global Inc clients’ accounts were hacked, according to a breach notification letter given to impacted customers by the cryptocurrency exchange.

According to a copy of the letter released on the Attorney General’s website, the hack occurred between March and May 20 of this year.

Unauthorized third parties took advantage of a weakness in Coinbase’s SMS account recovery procedure to obtain access to accounts and move cash to crypto wallets not affiliated with the firm, according to the company.

On Friday, a Coinbase representative stated, “We promptly rectified the problem and worked with these clients to recover control of their accounts and compensate them for the cash they lost.”

The hackers needed access to personal emails and knowledge of the email addresses, passwords, and phone numbers associated with the impacted Coinbase accounts, according to the firm.

There was no proof that the information was received via Coinbase, according to the firm.

Bleeping Computer, a technology news site, first reported on the attack.
