The investigation was launched on the basis of an FIR filed under various sections of the IPC by Kolkata Police’s Park Street Police Station against Aamir Khan and others on February 15, 2021.

The FIR was based on a complaint filed by Federal Bank officials in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Calcutta. Aamir Khan, the son of Nesar Ahmed Khan, launched the mobile gaming application E-Nuggets, which the ED said was designed to defraud the public. During the investigation, it was discovered that the accused was transferring a portion of the money illegally earned through the gaming app (E-Nuggets) to another country using Crypto Currency Exchange.

“Furthermore, after collecting a substantial sum of money from the general public, withdrawals from the said App were abruptly halted for one reason or another. Following that, all data, including profile information, was deleted from the aforementioned App servers “The agency made the announcement on Wednesday.

The investigation by the agency revealed that the accused was transferring a portion of the money illegally earned through the gaming app (E-Nuggets) to another country using Crypto Currency Exchange.

“It was discovered that one such dummy account was opened in WazirX in the name of Sima Naskar, Proprietor of Pixal Design, which was used to purchase cryptocurrencies/crypto assets. Following that, the cryptocurrencies were transferred to another account on another cryptocurrency exchange, “Binance.” “It stated.

The exchange didn’t even identify the issue until seven months later, by which point a chunk of the money had already been spent.

The first transfer took place in May 2021, after an employee inadvertently put an account number into the payment amount area. Crypto.com only discovered the error during an audit in December 2021.

Instead of reporting the inaccurate refund to Crypto.com, the consumer in question, Thevamanogari Manivel, allegedly transferred the money to a joint account and spent $1.3 million AUD ($890,526 USD) on a lavish five-bedroom property for her sister.

The corporation is now fighting for its money in the Victoria Supreme Court with a lawsuit. In February, Manivel’s account was successfully frozen by Crypto.com. Manivel has also been ordered by the court to sell the house and return the money (with interest) from the transaction. The case will be heard again in court in October, and Crypto.com has declined to comment.

I suppose a crypto winter isn’t the only reason exchanges have been losing money recently — fat-fingered blunders are also a concern. Earlier this week, the Solana-based decentralized exchange OptiFi lost $661,000 after a developer used the deadly “Solana program close” command to shut down the whole software operating the exchange. To avoid such scenarios in the future, the exchange now calls for a warning message when employing the prompt.

They have used Bitcoin privacy tools to transfer out the stolen funds as a means to hide their identity. However, it has been suspected that the Ronin hackers are from the North Korean cybercrime group.

Initially, the Ronin network was hacked in March where the attackers transferred around $625 million worth of USDC and ETH, which is Ethereum-based cryptocurrency known as Tornado Cash. The hackers made it difficult for the investigators to trace the movement of the funds.

Accordingly, the security investigators have found that the hackers withdraw the funds from the Tornado Cash and then they sent around $20.7 million to the centralized exchanges (CEXs) like Binance, Huobi, and FTX. Afterwards, the remaining funds were send to the North Korean cryptocurrency named Blender.

The Ronin network particularly, is built for Axie Infinity and it allows users to transfer the assets between the sidechain and the Ethereum Bitcoin blockchain.

The attack was conducted through their CAS or the Crypto Application Server. Bleeping Computer was the first notified of this by a General Bytes customer.

These ATMs are cloud hosted by CAS. CAS is responsible for the management of cryptocurrencies, which are supported. It also deals with the execution of sales and purchases of them. General Bytes ATMs currently supports over 40+ cryptocurrencies.

A zero-day is a computer bug that is present without prior knowledge to the vendors or software developers. Since its existence is made known after an attack on the system, the system remains prone to attacks until a patch is ready.

According to the General Bytes advisory, attackers apparently created an admin ID remotely on the CAS admin portal. They used the URL call for the default installation page which is for the creation of the first administrative user. This vulnerability has been present since the previous version of CAS.

Attackers are believed to have scanned exposed servers on TCP ports 443 or 7777, and these were the ports used for General Byte and Digital Ocean servers. After the creation of the fake account under the name ‘gb’, hackers modified the ‘buy’ and ‘sell’ settings and diverted funds to accounts in their control with each transaction. The amount of cryptocurrency stolen is unknown.

Warnings have been issued by General Bytes to not use ATMs until patches are installed on the servers. Currently, 18 such exposed servers are present, the majority of them in Canada. A checklist of steps has also been provided to follow before using the services.

The collaboration would enable gamers to pay for single-game suites using their cryptocurrencies. The Houston Texans also take pride in this accomplishment, being the first NFL team to accept cryptocurrency payments for suites.

BitWallet CEO John T. Perrone said that they are thrilled to work with BitWallet to offer an interesting option for our fans who are wanting to experience Texans gameday in one of our suites. The Texans are setting an example for the NFL by working with BitWallet as the digital currency has established itself as a key form of payment. I’m flattered that BitWallet is the first to provide this option to Texans supporters.

The newest development in bitcoin initiatives is the sponsorship of sports, including baseball, Formula 1, UFC, football, and eSports. The multi-million dollar efforts made to create sports partnerships primarily serve to increase fan engagement and respectability.

Sports teams and leagues participated in over 100% more bitcoin transactions in 2021 than they did in 2020, and it is anticipated that this growth will continue in the years to come.

The cryptocurrency sector is crucial to leagues, clubs, and sportsmen all around the world. Leagues, clubs, and professional players are responding by trying to engage younger audiences, especially Gen Zers and Millennials, a challenging to reach but significant sector of the sports industry.

Given their increasing adoption and the fact that, for many individuals, they represent the quickest and most reliable means of payment when compared to conventional payment methods, acceptance of cryptocurrencies is crucial. The process is really made simpler for the fans by global stores as well as sports teams and enterprises accepting cryptocurrencies for payments.

Smirnov has alerted the Web3 teams that the endeavor is likely broad. In 2022, cross-chain bridges and other decentralized finance (defi) protocols have been the victim of several attacks. The Lazarus Group of North Korea is considered to be responsible for several defi vulnerabilities, even though the majority of the hackers are unknown.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Treasury Department, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency determined The Lazarus Group to be a threat to the cryptocurrency market and its participants in mid-April 2022. One week after the FBI’s warning, the Office of Foreign Asset Control of the U.S. Treasury Department placed three Ethereum addresses on the list of Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons.

The Lazarus Group, a cybercrime organization, is in charge of maintaining the database of Ethereum addresses, according to OFAC. Additionally, using the Ronin bridge attack (the $620M Axie Infinity hack), OFAC connected the North Korean hacking collective to the flagged Ethereum wallets. On Friday, Delbridge Finance co-founder Alex Smirnov warned the Web3 and cryptocurrency communities that Lazarus Group was allegedly attempting to attack the project.

“The Lazarus organization appears to have tried a cyberattack against [Debridge Finance]. This campaign is probably broad, therefore a PSA for all Web3 teams,” Smirnov emphasized in his tweet. Several members of our team received a PDF file titled “New Salary Adjustments” from an email address that was a fake of mine, which was the attack’s primary method. Our team is informed about potential attack vectors, and we constantly seek to improve our rigorous internal security policies.

macOS users won’t be impacted by the attack, according to Smirnov, even though Windows users must input their system password to open the password-protected PDF. “The attack vector is as follows: Smirnov stated that when a user clicks a link in an email, the user downloads and opens an archive, try to open a PDF file but is prompted for a password, clicks password.txt.lnk, and infects the whole computer.

The defi projects and the bitcoin market have been targeted by hackers like Lazarus Group and others, who have made a killing. Members of the bitcoin industry are believed to be targets because many businesses deal with money, a range of assets, and investments.

According to reports by cybersecurity specialist Patricia Ruffio published in Privacy Affairs, the Dark Web marketplace grew in variety and volume with an increased amount of supply chain networking, at the same time the prices dropped significantly. A significant amount of price drop can be envisioned compared to the last year’s. Almost 9,000 active vendors were found to be selling fake IDs and credit cards at a higher rate that exceeds the past year’s sales. The number of items sold in 2021 dropped in prices this year. Sales volume increased due to a greater amount of supply networks. Dark Web’s data volume has plunged in 2021 compared to 2020 as more fake credit card data, personal information, and documents were sold across the globe. However, more items were added to the selling items such as hacked cryptocurrency accounts, web services like Uber, DDos attacked unprotected websites, Fake US Green Card, high-efficiency international passports, Binance verified accounts, Cryotp.com verified accounts, Blockchain.com verified accounts, PayPal transfer of $1000-3000 from stolen accounts and more products.

With increasing supply chain networks, more people are able to access and buy products from Dark Web marketplaces. Dark Web has undergone noteworthy changes within 2021-2022 to facilitate a smooth operational user-friendly interface. So, that the buyers can feel that they are accessing a more conventional marketplace. Dark Web is right now offering a more secure marketplace emphasizing more on customer services. White House Market, the popular darknet market, hosted about a third of the market’s 9,000 active vendors in October and declared that they were closing the site all of a sudden. The emptied space was taken up by sites like ToRReZ and AlphaBay which established themselves as the long-term market leaders. These are probable reasons why Dark Web’s customer-centric security is a notable change as it is defined by more viable sites which will not abandon their customers in the middle.

Dark Web sites are even observed to compete with each other on the level of providing security and customer service qualities. This is also a reason they are more prone to using customer-centric services with traditional marketing approaches like buying two products and getting one free, viable discounts, coupons, and product reviews which are becoming more common sights.

According to the December 2021 data, approximately 45 million credit cards’ value went up. Reportedly the average price for credit cards detail ranged from $1 in the U.S., Canada, and Australia to $20 each in Hong Kong in 2022. Dark Web even initiated a secured and easier mode of payment methods such as accepting mobile payments, online payments, and payment processors. Although it has been observed that the value of hacked accounts might fluctuate depending on the factors of cybersecurity capabilities and insurance. As the supply increases adding more vendors Dark Web items become inexpensive to buy.

Dark Web items that can be bought within $100 in 2022 are PayPal transfers with a $1000-$3000 balance, PayPal transfer stolen accounts with a $100-$1.000 balance, Movo.Cash Login, Hacked Western Union Account, Westen Union transfer from stolen account $1,000+ balances, Blockchain.com verified account, Netflix account with a 1-year subscription, Bet365 account, Kaspersky account, NBA League Pass, Various adult site accounts, Canva Pro yearly, CNBC Pro, Netflix 4K 1 year, HBO, Orange TV, Hulu, Uber hacked account, Uber driver hacked account, Utility bill templates, New York driver’s license, US business cheque templates, Russian Passport scan, Unprotected websites 10-50K requests per second in 1 hour, Unprotected websites 10-50k request per second in 24 hours, Walmart account with a credit card attached, Australia hacked credit card details with CVV, Stolen online banking logins with minimum 100 on account, Closed VISA with PIN, Australia and Canada hacked credit card details with CVV, Cloned American Express with PIN, Global credit card hacked with CVV, Stolen online banking logins with minimum $2000 on account and more.

On the Dark Web identity theft is a common phenomenon and anyone’s identity can be bought for under just $500 such as Latvian National ID, Delaware ID, Indiana ID, Louisiana ID, Utah ID, European Union National ID, US driver’s license, 10 million the USA email addresses, 600K New Zealand emails, 2.4 million Canada emails, US business cheque templates, Australia driver’s license, Alberta CA driver’s License, Texas ID, Nevada ID and more.

Dark Web creates a platform for cyber criminals to sell stolen personal and sensitive data. According to reports by the cybersecurity specialist, the pandemic years marked an increasing amount of cyberattacks on various enterprises and organizations which could be a reason for an escalating amount of supply chain surge in the darknet sites. Dark Web is observed to be more secure and following a path of the traditional marketplace, however, cyber security providers have also initiated an increased amount of scrutiny on these sites.
