It relates to devices, systems and methods that implement certain rendering processes.

Here’s more about it.

Apple’s New Patent Application

Apple had introduced its much-awaited and most anticipated Vision Pro Headset at the brand’s WWDC23 event keynote held on the 5th of June, 2023, and the VP of Apple’s Technology Development Group, Mike Rockwell explained to the audience the key components used in Apple’s Vision Pro Headset. While talking about the visionOS, Rockwell also spoke about the Foveated Renderer used in the operating system.

For those of you who didn’t know, a Foveated Renderer uses a rendering technique that with the help of the eye tracker that is integrated with the virtual reality headset, reduces the workload of the device by focusing on the point where the eyes are pointed to and reducing the quality of the images in the peripheral vision. This is exactly how Apple’s Vision Pro Headset too works by delivering the maximum image quality to exactly where the user’s eyes are looking in each frame.

On the 15th of June 2023, Apple submitted a new patent application to the US Patent & Trademark Office which the company titled “Perspective Correct Vector Graphics with Foveated Rendering” and the patent application relates to the devices, systems, and methods which are used in the rendering processes that perform vector graphic rendering for its Vision Pro, iPhones, and other devices. In most parts of the application, it is revealed as of the company is speaking about a head-mounted device (HMD) that has an optical see-through or an opaque display in it.

As understood, the “Perspective Correct Vector Graphics with Foveated Rendering” that the company is trying to get a patent for, based on the gaze direction will be increasing the image quality of the focused region and will reduce the amount of computation and memory used in providing perspective correct rendering. An illustrative image has also been given below, depicting how the rendering process works.

US Patent & Trademark Office has today published a patent application from Apple which showcased a possible redesign of the AirPod Pro case.

This application basically revealed the creative idea of Apple, according to which the case not only carries your Airpods but also conveys information to users via haptics or display on the front side of the case. This application by Apple is said to be filed back in September 2022 which means that the company went out of the box to think of this creative idea last year only. If Apple’s this invention gets approval the company will surely be way ahead of its competitors in the industry.

Along with the application many patent figures have also been posted which show the case – display in various scenarios like using Apple Music, Apple TV+, Maps, Weather, Audiobooks, and communication with Siri about an app or service.

As per some illustrations, the AirPods case has a touch-sensitive case while some show that the case has a Graphical User Interface, one or more processors, memory, one or more modules, programs, or a set of instructions stored in memory for performing multiple functions.

Not only this in some illustrations, but user interaction with GUI through finger touch, gestures, or Apple Pencil is also shown. This device is surely going to increase customer satisfaction as it will be totally new for the users to witness the AirPods case with display, touch-sensitive surfaces, tactile output generators, device-oriented sensors, and much more.

Hence if Apple’s invention gets approval, users will find it super easy to keep a check on their notifications or use music apps, and communicate with Siri with this amazing gadget.

Here’s more about the patents which Apple has received.

Apple Receives Patents for its AirPods Pro and Dual USB Type-C Adapter

Apple had recently received 6 new patents for its new electromagnetic shielding testing chamber, windows with molded layers of polished glass and four other patents for its GPU systems. Now the company has received two more patents for its AirPods Pro and dual USB type C power adapter.

The two new design patents Apple has received, unlike other patents doesn’t provide the abstract, summary or any other details about the invention and the design patents only reveals the design of the Apple products that has received the patents.

From the Hong Kong Patent Office, Apple has received the design patent for its dual USB type-C compact power adapter and two illustrations of the design has been shared.

The compact power adapter from Apple is a 35W charger and has two prongs that can be enclosed within the adapter and can be taken out when the device should be plugged in.

The design also reveals that the adapter has an almost cube like shape with its thickness a little less than its height and length. You can also get to see two spaces for the fingers on both the sides of adapter as well. It is on the top that we get to see the two USB type-C ports by which one can connect the USB type-C to USB type-C power cable.

The second design patent Apple has received is from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Hague, Netherlands. The design patent is for the Apple AirPods Pro which features two beaded earbuds.

Unlike the usual Apple AirPods, this new Apple AirPods Pro has a bend on its body. Ten illustrations of the AirPods Pro has been shared with the patent and it reveals the overall design of the product from all of its sides.
