SpaceX Falcon 9 Launches and Deploys Another 24 Kuiper Satellites into the Low Earth Orbit

Followed by the previous two Kuiper satellite deployments, Amazon’s Project Kuiper has today deployed 24 more Kuiper satellites into the Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Unlike the previous two liftoffs, this time the launch was done on a Falcon 9 rocket of SpaceX.

Read more about it below.

Third Batch of Kuiper Satellites Deployed

After the April 2025 and June 2025 Kuiper satellite deployments that were done on Atlas V rockets, the third batch of Kuiper satellites consisting of another 24 more satellites was deployed today on the 16th of July 2025 on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket as part of the ‘KF-01’ mission. The liftoff took place at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, at 2:30 EDT (11:48 IST). Following the liftoff, the first stage booster returned back to Earth after 8.5 minutes as planned, and it had landed on the SpaceX droneship – ‘A Shortfall of Gravitas’, in the Atlantic Ocean. Also, the 24 Kuiper satellites were deployed by the upper stage at 465km altitude, from where the Kuiper satellites will rise to 630km altitude – their final altitude.

Speaking more, the Project Kuiper satellites of Amazon is something similar to the Starlink satellites itself. Moreover, over the coming years, 80 more such launches are being planned, and over 3,200 Kuiper satellites are aimed to be deployed. However, in the case of the Starlink network, already it consists of about 8,000 satellites and this number is expected to increase in the future with more Starlink satellite liftoffs.

As of now, Project Kuiper only has 78 Low Earth Orbit satellites. Also to note, the brand has to meet the US FCC’s deadline of at least 1,600 operating satellites by the end of July 2026 next year, which also justifies why the brand has approached its rival for liftoff.

Stay tuned for more updates.
