Why cancel Netflix is trending on X platform?

If you are an active X user, then you must have come across the latest Cancel Netflix trend on the platform. But why is this trending, and how did it start? If you also have these same questions in your mind, then this article is just for you.
How did Cancel Netflix start on the X platform?
This Cancel Netflix subscription started when Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, posted on the X platform yesterday, urging his followers to cancel their subscriptions as it is said that the streaming platform is pushing transgender woke agenda with some of its offerings. Musk has asked the users to cancel their subscriptions for the health of their kids.
One of the reasons for this ongoing trend is the animated series Dead End: Paranormal Park and its creator, Hamish Steele. Though the show lasted only for two seasons on the platform and was cancelled in 2023, it has still managed to become the subject of attention due to a transgender protagonist in the series. Moreover, Hamish Steele is said to have celebrated the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, calling him a Nazi, which has also sparked outrage online.
After this, a few users also cited reasons like discrimination against white people as the reason behind cancelling their subscription. Musk has highlighted such posts by resharing them and repeatedly asking users to cancel Netflix subscriptions.
The posts have now amplified a boycott trend online, with many users cancelling their subscriptions and sharing screenshots of the same. Netflix, till now, has not responded to this ongoing criticism.
