Tesla clarifies on the viral Cybertruck deactivation video surfacing online

Recently, a video has gone viral on the X (formerly known as Twitter) platform that showed the driver of a Cybertruck pulled over on the side of the road, mentioning that Tesla disabled his vehicle mid-traffic. In the video, the screen inside the vehicle shows that the update has failed and advises the driver to return to the dealer.
While some users voiced out their concerns on Tesla remotely disabling a vehicle, many detected the video to be fake, as obviously, Tesla doesn’t operate under the dealership business model. Since the video is spreading widely online, the company decided to respond to this video.
This is fake – that’s not our screen.
Tesla does NOT disable vehicles remotely. https://t.co/QFOLG74AJI

The company officially stated on the X platform that the video is fake. The screen shown in the video does not belong to Tesla, while it is confirmed that Tesla does not disable vehicles remotely. After this clarification, many users commented on the above post that Tesla should sue the original person filming the video for such false claims, as such videos can misguide potential Tesla customers.
This is not the first time that misinformation has spread online regarding Tesla, and the company had to step up to clarify the same. Previously, there have also been a few such instances. So be careful if you come across any such information, and do verify it before coming to any conclusion.
