[Update : Issue is now resolved] Starlink Confirms Ongoing Network Outage, Working on a Fix

Update :
SpaceX’s satellite internet service Starlink has mostly recovered from a major network outage that disrupted connectivity for users around the world earlier today.
According to Michael Nicolls, VP of Starlink Engineering at SpaceX, the outage lasted approximately 2.5 hours and was caused by a failure in key internal software services operating the core network.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Nicolls wrote:
“Starlink has now mostly recovered from the network outage, which lasted approximately 2.5 hours. The outage was due to failure of key internal software services that operate the core network. We apologize for the temporary disruption in our service; we are deeply committed to providing a highly reliable network, and will fully root cause this issue and ensure it does not occur again.”

SpaceX’s satellite internet service, Starlink, is currently experiencing a widespread network outage, leaving thousands of users without connectivity. The company acknowledged the issue in an official post on X (formerly Twitter) at 1:35 AM on July 25, 2025, stating that its team is actively working to implement a solution.
In its statement on X, Starlink said:
“Starlink is currently in a network outage and we are actively implementing a solution. We appreciate your patience, we’ll share an update once this issue is resolved.”

The outage appears to be significant. According to data from DownDetector, user reports of connectivity problems spiked sharply around 12:58 AM IST on July 25th, with over 63,000 reports logged in a short time frame. This marks one of the highest spikes reported in the past 24 hours, far above the baseline of just a handful of reports.

Users Reporting Outages Worldwide
User comments on DownDetector highlight that the outage is not confined to a single region. For example:
A user in Córdoba, Argentina, wrote: “Starlink Caído en la Granja, sierras chicas, Córdoba, Argentina.”
Another user mentioned: “Still down in Italy.”
Some long-time customers, however, noted that such disruptions are rare. One user said they’ve had Starlink since May 2022 and this is only the second outage experienced, while another replied that they still remain satisfied with the service overall.
