Mysterious 140-Year-Long YouTube Video Crosses 2.1 Million Views

In a bizarre case of internet randomness, a YouTube user has uploaded a 140-year-long video that has already crossed 2.1 million views at the time of writing this article, within just seven days of being posted.
The video, titled with only a question mark ( ? ), appears unusual from the moment you click on it. Although the duration claims to stretch across 140 years, the timeline only displays around 12.34 hours. Even more strangely, the content itself shows absolutely nothing — just a blank screen.
Despite (or perhaps because of) its oddity, the video has attracted massive attention across social media platforms, with users flooding the comments section.
Comments Locked Behind Subscriptions
The YouTube user @shinywr, who posted the video, has restricted comments so that only subscribers can comment. As a result, the video has generated strong engagement, accumulating nearly 29,041 comments at the time of writing.
Interestingly, the channel itself contains only three videos:
- One titled “150 hours in YouTube Shorts” — despite YouTube Shorts having a maximum length limit of 3 minutes
- Another titled “294 hours in 1 video”, which has managed to pull in over 362,000 views
- And the viral 140-year-long video
Looking at the channel’s growth, it appears the creator has gained around 29,000 subscribers purely from the traction generated by this single upload.
Things get even more curious when you check the channel’s About section. It lists North Korea (which can be changed manually) as the channel’s origin and confirms the account was created on 31 July 2023.
Adding to the mystery, on 11 January 2026, the user uploaded another video titled “billionhours”, though that video is no longer available.
At the end of the day, it seems like the creator is simply having fun and pushing YouTube’s limits.
