Can Whatsapp curb FAKE NEWS with the new update?

Whatsapp recently rolled out an update to stop the spread of fake news relating to COVID-19. In its latest update, Whatsapp has added a limit on forwarding messages to 1 chat at a time.

We feel that the new update rolled out by Whatsapp owned by Facebook, will help in the reduction of fake message forwards. Whatsapp has also offered in its recent update to verify any forwarded message.

During this time of lockdown, as people are staying home there has been an exponential increase in the number of forwards. The company also shared a blog post in which it stated that due to a high number of forwards, it can contribute to the spread of misinformation.

This limit would be a person can only forward a message to only one chat at a time. But this doesn’t mean that they can’t copy the message and paste it in the chat.

Whatsapp is rolling out this update to both Android and iOS users and will be available to its users globally.
