Europol and others takes down the SMS-based FluBot Android Spyware

The European authorities and the law enforcement agencies has taken down a SMS-based FluBot Android Spyware.

Almost eleven countries did a joint operation to take down the FluBot spyware. Consequently, the countries were Australia, Finland, Belgium, Ireland, Hungary, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the European and USA’s law enforcement officials.

Accordingly, Europol who are the European authorities stated that the FluBot malware was passing through the SMS. This malware was capable of stealing online bank details, passwords and other important data. Hence, an investigation was set up to remove this spyware because the FluBot spyware has targeted several Android phones across Australia, Europe and other countries. However, the spyware is now under control of the Dutch police.

FluBot malware spreads as an application which can’t be detected easily. The malware then gets installed on the Android phone through text messages and the users are asked to click on a link. Afterwards, on clicking the link an app gets installed which is said to be for tracking the package delivery or access a fake voice mail message.
